The word "preferred" may well have been a reference to the expedited offers for exceptional candidates. I don't know. I just assumed not - partly from the number of offers that appear to have been extended, as well as her reference to an allocation, whatever that may mean.

I don't think they've filled up the numbers yet--I know a couple of people who received offers from Oxford (pretty outstanding applicants) who haven't heard anything from Cambridge.

Not saying Ox is harder, but you'd expect the same pool to be getting offers from Camb.

ah well.. gates said to me by email that all international round invitations have already been sent, and if one hadn't received an email by last week, one was out of reckoning! do you have any idea on whether perhaps validating/authenticating our degrees/universities is why it is getting delayed? Well I dint receive any mails from the gates cambridge trust. I dont know any Indian who has received an offer for an LLM. I am not sure what could be the reason but m pretty sure that it isnt possible that no Indian was deemed worthy enough for an offer or that they can find a place only via the waiting list.

If most of us here are left on the waiting list then this year's selection process is truly peculiar; for a few reasons:

1. Many applicants from traditional regions of UK, Asia and South America are under-represented.
2. A quantitative comparison of last year's thread indicate a much higher success rate amongst the participants in this forum.
3. The MCL application process seem to affect the concurrent LLM selection as MCL offers were handed out along similar a timeline to last year's LLM.

I may be too optimistic, but surely a greater percentage of the 300 or more offer holders would make their presence felt in here; at least to discuss their college preference such as that found last year.

Edinburgh < Queen Mary < Kings = LSE = UCL < Cambridge < Oxford.

@ deemed optimist; well i second your opinion. I am not aware of the offers made to students from other nations but definitely with regards India, I was a little perplexed as to how; when Oxford were happy taking two students from just my university, how is it that the whole country lands up in the waiting list @ Cambridge?????

I too am from India. And havent really heard anything from other friends (from India) who have applied regarding any offer. Its indeed weird !

It would be my humble guess that Cambridge is simply behind schedule with the LL.M. decision process because of the MCL, which is offered for the first time this year and probably got prioritized re decision process.
