The 2012 Cambridge Thread

So its safe to asume that all of us who have not heard are rejected. This is probably the only university that simply wont send you an e-mail of rejection.

It is really sad to know this, though I must also admit that not getting an offer after the first wave usually implies unsuccessful application.

Nevertheless, it is always safe to assume you have been rejected, but what rebutting the safe assumption is an unexpected miracle ;-)

Not entirely - I forwarded my most recent exam results the other week to the department and was informed that they had been forwarded to the degree committee for consideration with the rest of my application. So either they're still considering or the individual at the department lied just to be nice :)

Hi Yalta008, did they ask you to send an update? I also have an update but not sure if I could send them...

You are right. Where should I sent it to? To Ms Wade directly or to llmadmission? Thanks!

To all LLM applicants awaiting a decision:

I contacted the admissions office yesterday in order to ascertain the status of my application, which is still "under consideration by the degree committee" (I applied end Nov.)

I was informed that all preferred LLM candidates have already been made offers - they are awaiting acceptances to firm up numbers. They have a pile of applications (akin to a "waitling list" I guess) which are borderline - and they will make further offers on a piecemeal basis as and when spaces open up - hence the 15 April 2012 deadline.

This may be obvious but i hope it helps. Good luck. I'm not holding my breath.

Cheers

Thanks for the update. One question - does Cambridge require confirmation from the preferred candidates within a certain deadline? If not, I am not sure how the spaces could open up before April 15...

haha, that certainly puts things in perspective, but going by the posts of some offer holders, quite a few of them are holding on to two or more offers right? When does Cambridge require a final reply from the current preferred candidates?

I think both of us thought of exactly the same issue and posted at the same time!

While I do not mean to challenge what you were told, Roamer, I have to admit that I find it rather odd. As far as I have seen on this thread thus far, none of the admitted students for the LL.M. (unlike MCL): (i) has up to date received any more information than the Ms. Wade conditional offer e-mail and (ii) is thus facing any kind of deadline to accept their offer. At leat I have not...

reading frontal's post with roamer's, perhaps when they said "preferred" candidates- they were referring to the exceptional bunch who get their offers immediately- they perhaps want to wait and see how many people on that exceptional list will accept immediately, and then start sending out the normal offers... although with what frontal says, if they don't give any further info or seek a reply from the exceptional candidates, why would they reply affirmatively or negatively? Something tells me it is going to be a lonnng lonnnggg wait until further acceptances/rejections are meted out.

I'm not very sure of this~ but they will have to authenticate/validate foreign degrees right? Mine is from a lesser known Indian university, does anyone have any idea how or how long such a process might take? could that be the reason why asian candidates (in general, not sure if any asians/indians on this forum have obtained any offers) haven't obtained offers yet?

It would be very useful to know the total number of offers already made (whether it is 50 or 250). Does anybody know this information?

So, it would be nice if those who know that they will take up another offer would communicate it to Ms Wade ;)

Hi everyone,

I'm also one of those whose Camsis hasn't been updated from "under consideration by degree committee" since November, and I haven't received an e-mail. My application was complete in late October.

Student83, I'm also wondering how many offers have been made to preferred candidates, whether they have maxed out on numbers already. Sorry if I've missed the answer to this question elsewhere in the thread - has anyone already received notification that they were unsuccessful in their application?

I am wondering whether the online status would remain the same, for now, regardless of whether you are on this "unofficial" waiting list or have been placed on the "no" pile. So it would still read "under consideration" until it changes to officially unsuccessful on 15 April, unless you receive your offer by e-mail in the meantime...

I'm so nervous, I've been checking Camsis constantly since October. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear!

Oh God.. and I am cribbing for waiting since December... hang in there, but as far as I read on this thread, I don't think anyone has received any email/update stating they have been rejected, except one person (?) who called up the Department, and was told that he had been rejected..
