It is not that surprising German students are that many :) they have a very good reputation in both Oxford and Cambridge!

@regulare: I chose Merton for MLF and Trinity and Corpus Christi for LLM. They all have very strict parameters to be admitted. Merton has a lot of scholarships for post-grad students; Trinity is just Trinity; CCC is near Selwyn which is just by the Law Faculty.

I also agree with regolare's vision: Cambridge IS THE place for International Law... The Lauterpacht Centre is a leading research centre in Europe...

@ regulare

I applied for both, but the deadlines were the same (March 1st)! What Studienstiftung scholarship are you referring to, I meant the Bucerius-Programm.
Didn't hear from DAAD yet, Studienstiftung/Bucerius sent an invitation to the selection seminar this week.

Hi dichter and the other Germans,

I got a rejection of the Studienstiftung/Bucerius programme yesterday! That really surprised me because I am PhD scholar and speaker of the scholars in Regensburg at the moment, have a "good" in my frist legal examination and a lot of further education!
Perhaps my research interest was not enough for them. Can you tell me more about your grades and what you wrote in your application about your research interest?

I am sorry, I was referring to the ERP programme (I also have some offers from US schools, however, these are too expensive for me without the ERP); I always forget that the Bucerius programme is also organised via the Studienstiftung. Really hope that I can obtain a scholarship from DAAD or Bucerius/Zeit-Stiftung. Besides, I also applied to some law firm scholarships (Freshfields etc.). Fingers crossed. :)
Congratulations on the Bucerius pre-selection!

Thanks! But it's still a long shot I guess...I applied for the Freshfields scholarship too, were there any others that support non-US LLMs?

@ GermanBen
I'm sorry to hear that and it does seem very surprising considering your achievments. What is your further education? I'm a PhD student with a "gut" as well. As I have just started my thesis I was only able to describe what it is about in a more general sense. Cambridge fits the topic of my thesis, so maybe that convinced them...

Thanks for your reply, derdichter. I have completed all courses in English for lawyers at my university (Unicert IV), have further education in international rhetorical competence, oral communiction, mediation and took part in an anglo-american summer school (and some more which are not relevant for studying in Britain). Considering this and my grades and commitment I was really shocked to hear that my Bucerius application was rejected before the final round.
My only explanation (of course they have not given any reasons for their decision) is that my research interest was not strong enough. I have almost finished my PhD thesis so I wrote that I will use the option to write a master thesis in Cambridge and do research in the same field as my PhD thesis.
Best luck for your Bucerius application!

To all those who applied for the Freshfields scholarships: Did you name a specific programme in your applications or did you apply before you received the decisions? I'm considering an application, but won't deicide where I'll go before college decisions are made and Oxford has announced the faculty scholarships.

Best of luck with the DAAD/StuSti scholarships! (I didn't apply for those)

I named the programme (Cambridge LLM) and as I think I will go there I felt it was pereferable to give them some specific reasons.
Just out of curiosity: why didn't you apply for DAAD/Studienstiftung?
And just out of nescience: I didn't choose any colleges at both applications so I will be randomly assigned. Will I be considered for college scholarships automatically nonetheless?

I would think you would be considered for college scholarships unless the scholarship conditions spell out that only those who name the college as their first choice will be considered (e.g. the scholarship at St. John's College Ox). The process seems a bit intransparent though, so not sure about that.

So its safe to asume that all of us who have not heard are rejected. This is probably the only university that simply wont send you an e-mail of rejection.

I'm kind of confused as to why you say that. Offers went out last year until late April.

I did the research. Last years, after sending some offers on March 10, they sent a couple of them on April 15... and when I quantify "a couple of them", I'm exagarating a little.

Hey all, congrats to all the offer holders! I don't know if these updates/queries are late in the day, nevertheless here goes:

1. All email notifications for gates interviews (international round- Round 2) are out- if you did not hear from them sometime end of last week, you are out.

2. Any news of Asian/Indian offers? Friends? Friends of friends, the likes?

it's not over till it's over. I was told via email that it was possible that a decision would be made before 15 April, but that it could not be guaranteed.

Could you share how you got this information? And what about ppl. who did not receive an offer yet, were they disregarded?

Yes, I am pretty sure of this, I wrote to the Gates Cambridge Trust and received this as a reply:

"That is correct if you have not received an email inviting you to interview then you must assume you have not been successful for the Gates Scholarship,

With best wishes,
Lucy"

Further confirmed by a notification on their website:
