I am definitely sure that Leeds is the best of all those universities you have mentioned. There are some good reasons for this assessment.
First, not only is Leeds far older than the other three universities (the three belong to the same 1960s generation) but it is also in the elite Russell Group of large, highly prestigious research-driven universities in the UK.
Second, the University of Leeds School of Law (more than 100 years old now) is one of the largest in the UK. The significance of this lies in the fact that it has a large enough academic staff to cater for both its research and postgraduate-taught students. It seems to me that Sussex, in particular, still relies on quite a number of part-time instructors.
In saying all this, I am not implying that Sussex is not good. A a campus-based university, it is located in one of the most favourite beach resorts in the UK. -- Brighton. I first knew the town in my student days when I was assigned by my English Literature teacher to read one of Graham Greene's novels -- "Brighton Rocks".
