Queen Mary Law Degree

vantravel

I have been accepted to the QM LLB program this fall. I assume from my research, albeit brief, that QM is a far superior school to City, another uni I have acceptance from.

I know this site deals predominantly with LLM, a course I may choose to take if it seems wise upon completion of the LLB, but for now this is where my questions lie.

I am from Canada and will do the senior 2 year LLB - how does this school look when it comes to prestige? I understand the UoL moniker will help to a certain degree, but beyond that am I shunned for not grad'ing from a top five school?

Any and all info will be greatly appreciated.

I do not know what you are talking about when you refer to 'top 5', so you'll have to excuse a law professor's ignorance there. I'm based in the UK. With regard to UK universities, when I look at admissions to the postgraduate programme for which I am responsible, I look at the student's individual performance rather than distinguishing on the basis of institution. There is across the UK a system of external verfication of marks (the external examiner system), which should operate to ensure that all institution's standards are broadly in line. Nonetheless, even assuming a relative degree of ignorance in Canadian institutions about UK HE institutions, I would still expect that Queen Mary is a reasonably well known and respected institution.
