Hi Venusian,
It's really nice to hear from somebody heading to QM this year. My name is Julia and I come from Poland where I have graduated from University, recently. I decided to specialize in IP law and I hope QM is the right decision. Where are you from and what subjects you are supposed to study?
Is there anyone else going to QM this year?

Hi all,
Due to the offer letter I understand that well be notified about the campus accommodation in July/August. I plan to come around 20 September as well.
I have a question about English Language Requirements. My offer condition is to produce evidence of proficiency in English language (whatever it means). My TOEFL score was 253 and 5.5. Do you think that Ill fulfill this requirement if I only complete in sessional language programme? I simply cannot come before the term starts so I cannot take part in pre sessional course which is highly recommended in my case. Ive already asked admissions assistant this question but I didnt receive a clear answer. Any thoughts?

Dear Julia,
about your TOEFL score, when you sent in your application or anytime later did you submit to them your TOEFL score? i just went thru the requirements on the website which say that TOEFL score of 267 and 5.
Maybe once you send them your results you'll know what the next step is.. i belive the sessional language programme takes place during the summer, so you can check with them whether thats a mandate for you...cause what i understood was that in case one is short of the 'english language requirements' then once you take up the summer course they run, (Which is compulsory) things fall into place...
Its funny they havnt given you a clear reply... i dont know who you have been interacting with but this lady S.Sullivan@qmul.ac.uk seems to be quite prompt and correct with her replies.
hope this little input helps

Hello Venusian! I'm doing the LLM at QMUL this year. So cool to meet someone doing the same. The courses I'm taking are restricted to banking and economic law courses because my undergrad degree was in banking and finance. Look forward to seeing you there :)

I'm also going this September to QM. Regarding accomodation, does anyone want to share a house with me?
Posted Jun 27, 2006 14:38
Hi guys....it seems to me that a lot of people is going to head to QM next September...that's great.....
I live in Italy and I'll attend an LLM in International business law at QM.
Next 21st of August will start the presessional language course that for me was only raccomended but I'll do it as well.
About accomodation I am also interested to share a house with someone but first I want to spend two or three days in London to check the Mile end campus and the other places. I'll let you know. I hope to fly there as soon as possible...
Have someone of you information about the best accomodations opportuny? There are different opinions in the discussion board.....

Hey everyone!
Going to QM as well, LLM International business law. I m french and looking forward to arrive in London in september!
For accomodation, I ve heard that QM's campus wasn't so great, so that would be great if we could organize a shared flat! Moreover, London is famous to be a quite expensive city so...
Try to get some info about all that stuff and i ll keep you in touch...

hi all i am venusian.. but forgot my password.. hence venusian1 :)
i'll be starting my llm this year too and will decide my specialisations a little later.. i am told that you can take 2 months to attend as many different classes as you like to decide on ur specialisation..
about housing.. i have got my housing confirmation ... will be staying at the mile end campus in the student village.. i have heard some great things about the student acco at queen mary.. so plan to stay on campus.. its the most convenient thing to do... plus i'm also told that depending on the subjects one takes you would have to anyway travel all over london to attend the classes at ucl and kings college
since its n inter collegiate llm... so not like the classes are going to be held in one single location... basically commuting will be inevitable..
from what i've heard from close friends.. they've advised me to stay on campus.. private housing can be really a pain and involves a lot of paper work, heavy deposits etc. plus if your flat mate walks out on you at any time. you'll end up bearing much more rent than anticipated.. and everything is bound by contract so its difficult to wriggle out of it... do visit the accomation site in case you havnt got a chance.. www.ccrs.qmul.ac.uk/residences
let me know if there are any other thoughts..
also what dates are you'll planning to reach london???
i was thinking 23 september should be a good date...

Have you really? I've heard that the best rooms available are the inter-collegiate ones. Heard they're really clean and a lot nicer than the Mile End ones. I dunno tho, have to see it myself. I haven't got my housing confirmation yet but that may be because I'm out at the other end of the world. And doesn't registration start on the 20th of September?
Posted Jul 05, 2006 10:35
Well i have no idea about the inter collegiate halls.. like you said you can see for yourself when you get there...as for the enrollement date specifically for LLM .. it is 25 September... ie monday..

Hi all,
Two weeks ago I stopped by Queen Mary campus and I have to say its not that bad as some people say on his board. The district is just normal and not far from the center (taking into account that London is a big city). I havent seen the rooms inside but I dont suspect they are in a bad condition. Of course, we are coming from different parts of the world and something which is fine for me doesnt need to be fine for other people. If someone prefers private housing thats fine but I think its nicer and easier to stay with other students in a one place:)
If Venusian has already been confirmed as to the accommodation Im looking forward receiving mine.
Best regards
