The Oxford University LLM application deadline is January 2010, however I see in this thread that the majority of people have already sent their applications in.
Is it best to submit an application earlier, say by October/November? Or is it irrelevant how early you apply?

I'm sure Oxford doesn't have a rolling acceptance system so I think as long as you're in before the deadline there shouldn't be a problem. Or at least I hope that is true because I'm still working on my application...

Thanks!
Do most people prepare a new written piece for the Oxford applications or is it common practice to edit an existing piece of work they submitted while at university?

any news anyone?? dead silince in the forum....last year at this time of year some offers had already been made? has anyone received his yet??
Posted Dec 23, 2009 20:44
There is thread calle "accepted to Cambridge" or something similar where two people claim they have gotten offers...this is very confusing as last year, the first offers (according to what was posted) only came in late february...
Posted Dec 23, 2009 21:51
yes, correct. I am one of the "two people" who "claim" to have received an offer. If you had gone through the boards for 2009/10, you would have noticed that the first round of offers is usually made before christmas.

congraulations dutchman!! i also know for a fact that last year the frst offers were issued in december since a friend of minie received one! could you tell us when did you apply and your credentials to have a "benchmark"?
Posted Dec 24, 2009 09:43
Hi mkd,
no problem: I applied online around November 10 and sent in the supporting documents about 1 week later. However, it took until December 5 for the self service area to switch to "papers with degree committee".
As to my "credentials", I have graduated from one of Germany's top law schools in 2009, ranking no.1 of my class. Since then, I've been working on my doctoral thesis.

Well, as I am the other onw making that claim, I thought I'd pitch in. My credentials are actually disturbingly similar to yours, Dutchman. Who would have thought that the British like Germans? :P

Hello,
In a similar vein, could I get some opinions on my chances of getting into Cambridge LLM:
1) Did NOT get a first for the last two years but still ranked in the top 5% of my class of around 120 students. My university is ranked second in Ireland for law.
2) Got an academic scholarship from the law faculty.
3) Got an international relations scholarship from an NGO.
4) Was an intern in biggest law firm in Ireland.
5) Very active in socities in university.
Any opinions on my odds of getting in would be great, as I am afraid I am setting my hopes too high.

I think they are quite strict with a first class, unless there is good 'explanation'. See

hey,
I am planning to apply to Oxford for my L.L.M for 2010/11. One of the pre-requisites in the application form is to mention your first and second choice for colleges.I was wondering if there are any preferred colleges for a B.C.L or should I just stick to the best colleges in oxford generally?
Does it really matter??
Would really appreciate your assistance.
Thanks

I can confirm that the first round offers are out (even to UK applicants). I received mine by email, although no letter as of yet? Has anyone else received the 'formal' letter?
Posted Jan 07, 2010 16:05
I already got the email on December 21, but even I haven't received the formal letter yet. As the email was sent by Mrs. Wade, I am quite sure that, after its decision, the degree committee first returns the application to the BGS. The BGS then starts to send the formal offer letters. I suppose that this can take quite some time. However, I wouldn't worry about that.

Hmm... I was hoping that I would receive the formal letter in the next 2 weeks. But apparently it takes longer. In general it doesn't matter, but I really would like to know what standard they set for my final grade. It would be nice to know as soon as possible...
Do you think it is wise to send Mrs. Wade an email in let's say about 2 weeks and ask her?
