Oxford BCL Decisions

Law55

Does anyone know how Oxford notify their admissions decisions for the BCL? (i.e. will it be by post or e-mail). I note the website originally said 17th March for decisions - has anyone heard anything?
Thank you

Has no one applied to Oxford or is it just the case that no-one knows when or how the decisions will be made?
Thanks

I have no idea when admission decisions are notified to us, where abouts does it say the 17th March? Also, did you hear anything regarding the receipt of your application?

Last year I heard that most international students didn't hear anything until April, as the decisions were sent by snail mail late in March.

Hey guys, I called them and they said that the BCL decisions are already out by snail mail. They should reach in a week. If not, you can email them after next wednesday and they will send you a reply on the status of your application

Is that a week for applicants in the UK? Any idea of how long it will be for those of us from more far-flung parts of the globe?

I don't know what "snail mail" is. I doubt Oxford would send out the decisions second class when they could easily send them first class. But if they were sent out first class before or on Friday, would UK people not have the decisions by now?

Is a "rection" rejection? If so, i'm sorry. It's a rough process.
Did they mind being called to get the result? And did you just call the law faculty direct? I'm keen to get mine, but am also rather worried it'll be a rejection, in which case I'd rather wait for the mail!

Problem solved - "snail mail is ordinary postage". Rang them today to get result, whcih they areed to send be email - it was a rection (boo. hoo).

Sorry I could not get you. Did you mean that they refuse to send emails?

I called the graduate admissions board and they said that decisions will be released by post and gave me the date of the 17th march. How did you manage to get them to email you the decision? Is that for the BCL?

I also just called the Graduate Admissions Office. They said that they are not involved with the decision making process and that the Faculty of Law directly contacts applicants. The GAO appeared to have no knowledge of whether decisions had already been posted/communicated to applicants.

As we already know, the last date for decisions by the Faculty is the 17 of March. I presume now that we have to contact the Faculty if we want any real news. Cheers!

So is anyone planning to email/call them regarding their application? Is the general concensus that we'll hear after or before the 17th? Sorry, just a little confused!

I've been told that BCL decisions are being sent by mail right now and should reach sometime next week. If we dont hear by the end of next week, we can email the Law Faculty and find out the results from them directly. Cheers!

On the upside, at least you don't now have to wait for Ox - you ripped off that bandaid. I have the long wait for a possible rejection. Like you, I have no idea what they are looking for and have been pretty surprised and demoralised by the whole application process. It seems to be a complete lottery! I was offered a generous merit award from LSE, and yet am still waiting to hear back from Cambridge and so am expecting a rejection - so there isn't even consistency between the top law schools with what they are looking for. If it cheers you up any, I have a couple of friends at Oxford who aren't enjoying studying the BCL at all. They've found it to be far more work than expected and have found the expectations of professors unclear, which makes it hard at exam time.
Best of luck with any other LLM applications you may have made.

OK, well it's now the 20th March and still nothing in the post. Has anyone else heard from Oxford re the BCL decision? There seems to be some mixed responses on this board.

Perhaps we could all state where we're at...
