Exactly right Cedric, I don't really fall into that group thinking one is so much better than the other- they are both great courses to study and where ever we end up, I'm sure it will be quite a year! I'm glad a few people are heading to Cam though- a decent split will mean good company is assured where ever I go!

I also received an email from Paul Burns this morning making the offer 'official'.

I'm from Australia and wanted to know if there are any other Australians out there who will be going to Oxford to study for the BCL (or anything else for that matter).

I was wondering if any of the people who received word from Oxford also received word on any funding?

I'm working under the assumption that any faculty level funds have already been doled out (to people other than myself ;), but that College level funding is yet to be determined along with our ultimate placements.

Beta26, I remember reading somewhere (on the Oxford Law Faculty website) that the Law Faculty scholarships are announced in early April, so I would expect that's still in the pipeline too? Who knows though - someone else might have contradictory information!

Originally, I was all for Cam but I'm indecisive at the best of times so I have to say this has put the cat amongst the pigeons. Looking at both courses options I could easily pick four I was interested in so I may take some time to decide. I should be visiting in a few weeks though so maybe I will know after that. If we were given college information for either, that might help! lol

Well, it's good that u are still in doubt, S. ! It will ensure u make a good and solid decision. As has been said a 1000 times before: they are both very good ! So take your time, think things over, talk to people and u will do the right thing !
In your place I would have a hard time deciding too as I feel the BCL is equal to (or maybe better than) the BCL. As I applied to the MJur my choice is easier and I will take Cam..

I am still waiting for those damn Cam conditions. I now know my Ox condition (completion of my current degree) but would very much like to find out the cam one too !

For those who are interested: my offer said Merton College which was my first choice too...

apparently Oxford has been more active with sending offer letters this week. I am still waiting for the answer from Cambridge, though....anyone else?

After having a good think about things and a look through the courses offered, I think I will be accepting the Oxford place. How are everyone's decision making going? Anyone firmly decided?

Does anyone know the rough time period for college decisions? I'm another Merton applicant, so it would be good to be placed with some of you! Any idea how many BCL/Mjur students that Merton would take?

Wow, go Merton! It certainly has good food and great accommodation (at least by Oxford standards), but it has a rather well deserved reputation as the black hole of Oxford colleges from a social perspective.

I believe there are five BCL/MJurs at Merton this year, but I gather it varies considerably from year to year.

Yes, indeed. However, it also has some of the best skiing known to humankind in the mountains on the Siberia side, according to one of my Russian friends who is a skier. I confess, though, that I have never visited Uzbekistan. Perhaps it will be on my itinerary one day.

Sadly, I doubt that more than 1 percent of my fellow Americans would be able to pinpoint Uzbekistan on the map. For that matter, most would not be able to identify Afghanistan, Pakistan, or any other stan on the map.

Ive accepted the offer! Will await for college decision...if i recollect correctly I applied for new college and christ church...any views on how either are? Are there any ppl who did not apply for scholarships earlier and are doing so now?

I received my offer for the BCL by post and email simultaneously yesterday. To concur with a post above, I would like to say that the contributors to this forum have also kept me (mostly) sane in the last week awaiting the outcome of my application, so thank you all for the updates about the Faculty Office's progress!

I know this might sound strange considering the posts made in this forum: But has Cambridge Law Faculty already sent out offers? My Status in CamSIS is still on "applicant" and when I called the Graduate Board today I was informed that no offers have been made by Cambridge Law Faculty so far.

Can anyone clear me up?

I am in the same shoes. I have also emailed the faculty since monday and my email has not been answered. I have been admitted into Oxford for the BCL, however, so the Cambridge offer to me is largely of no moment.

Just thinking: one lady i know from my country (nigeria) said that cambridge sent her an offer by email since February.

The answer is only that of Cambridge.

What do you think of Balliol? I have been admited for the BCL and i chose Balliol as my first choice college. I dont know anythig of the colleges however, besides what they post on their website. Do you think i have made a great choice, and do you think i stand a gret chance of getting it?
