Hey guys,
Has any MJur/BCL applicant noticed an upload button disappearance? And if yes, what would it mean (if anything) at this stage? Cheers.

Yes, mine dissapeared a while back. But if it means something I have no idea.

What that - it is clearly stated that it takes at least 8 weeks?

Should we expect MLF decisions by this Friday? From what I gathered from last year’s thread, MLF offers dropped on the second Friday of March. This could mean that decisions are due soon…

Some people in this thread did report a button disappearance, but there is no answer what it really means. Acording to the last year's thread the outcome varried considerably, so there is hardly any way of guessing the upcoming decisions

So there’s no consistent trend for people whose upload button disappeared relatively early. Haven’t  found anything relevant in previous threads.

Do we happen to have any expected timeframe to hear the outcomes? I know they were supposed to be finalising their decisions March 1st, but nothing more.

The way I understood is was that they wanted to see how you argue. Analytical meaning you examine something, critique it, argue pro/contra and then give your opinion as compared to desscribing the area of law.

But tbf you might have as good as an idea as I do

Analytical in what sense?

Ah yes I understand, what did you do instead? I think you will still be fine.

In a way it was not so structured and more generic (does this make sense?). I just came across some YouTube Videos talking about the essays and, you know, when the only thing you can do is wait ...

But I want to point out that I myself have absolutely no idea how the apps are evaluated and what a good essay "truly" looks like. I think I was just a little bit sloppy as well and not as precise as I could have been

Kind of feel like I messed up my personal statement. I also realised just yesterday that the essays are to be much more analytical. So now I am feeling somewhat uneasy. ... maybe we all get in. At the end of the day none of us do. And none of us can know specifically what they wanted to see. I thought they wanted to see some argument and an analysis so that is what I did. But if they like it will most likely depend on the person reading it.

Yeah, given the numerous legal backgrounds people apply from, it would be nice to get at least some basic guidance of what is expected, whilst obtaining evaluating criteria is something we can only dream of

True, but then again I feel like thats the aim. To have it as open as possible for you to be able to write about a topic that interests you and that you want to pursue. Due to how the BCL is structured with you being able to choose your courses, as opposed to having multiple degrees each specialising in different areas.

that is exactly how I feel about my essay, thank god I am not alone

Hey all, so my university has me classified as 'top 5%' in a cohort of ~80 students and does not do ranks until we graduate. I messed up and just mentioned 'top 5% of cohort' in my application and didn't mention that we're just 80 people, so that means I'm somewhere in the top 4 ranks. Do you think Oxford will check the size of my university? Our university is pretty well-known and has a few folks in the BCL every year, so I assume they should have a good idea about it. But I was unsuccessful in my Cambridge application and think that this might be one of the reasons for that :/

No clue, but I would not say that to be the deciding factor. Many unis do not do these kind of rankings and yet many people from them get in. Feel like your guess for the deciding factor is as good as mine. Surely the grades will play some kind of role, but I think that for the BCL the essay would hold more weight or just as much.

Yeah I don't think it matters much. I was not ranked and I got an offer. The uni will know how good the candidate is by looking at the grades/the essay. Oxford's process is actually fairer because you get a chance to submit a piece of your actual grade and not just black or white grades

Hey there, has anyone's status changed from "ready for assessment" so far?

The status doesn't change at all I beleive. If your application has already been considered your "upload supporting documents" button will dissapear.

Or that is how I understand it.
