I would not make any comparisons between Oxford and other UK unis, let alone other countries. Ox, Camb and Harvard are all looking for excellent academics, but Harvard, for example (and American unis in general) place a much much greater emphasis on work experience, extra-curriculars etc. British unis focus more on grades. It is very often the case that candidates get accepted by Harvard and end up rejected by Oxford and vice versa.
I would also stop refreshing the grad portal, nothing (good) will happen there.
I do not think we can precisely interpret the implications of the timing of button disappearance, based on last year's experiences. Analysis from previous years suggested that an early disappearance could indicate a higher chance of receiving an offer. However, I was skeptical last year, especially since those who still had their buttons on had admissions to other prestigious programs, such as the MCL and LLM at Cambridge, and even the LLM at Harvard. This led me to question the reliability of early disappearance as an indicator, a doubt that was later validated. This year, I have observed a mix of outcomes, where some of those with early disappearances already have admissions to programs like MCL, LLM or PhD at Cambridge (Some even had their Gates Cambridge Interviews). I still do not think this evidence is conclusive......(just giving my troubled head some distractions to keep going because I have not been able to do anything serious this week. Last year, I promised myself I will keep off refreshing and refreshing email and graduate application portal until that decision comes but I have seen it is very hard. Hoping for the best for all of us. You are all great people.)
Thanks for the information! Hope you get in.
Thank you very much and I hope we will get decisions soon. Besides, now that Harvard released their LLM decisions a few moments ago, I have also seen some of those who reported early button disappearances here get HLS acceptances. Just in case someone wonders why I left it out, they hadn't released their admission results. (some interesting trend for those of us still drawing patterns (despite several advices/warnings to the contrary)
. Of course this is not conclusive

[quote][quote]The best answer is still, "button disappearance shows a decision has been made on your application." As for whether it is a rejection or an acceptance, nobody knows. But being a re-applicant, I have noticed some trend in this year's button disappearance, kinda they have been processing program by program unlike last year where they seemed like processing all programs (except MLF that came earlier) together, maybe due to that strike.
