Yep, there it is.
Furthermore, the Application Pack states that you should not submit anything extra if not specifically asked for it. Regarding the LLM, nothing is mentioned about a CV or a sample, which basically answers the question as well. That was my point.

By the way, judging from last year's application process, I would advise future applicants to discuss Cambridge and Oxford questions in two separate threads, as the admissions differ a lot and it could become difficult not to mix things up. Just a word of advice.

Hello everyone,
I have only just started to gather all the documents for my application and already feel quite..hm..lost! :( There are some technical questions that I find terribly confusing...
For example, can anyone tell me what will happen if the BGS receives my TOEFL result before they recieve my application? Does Cambridge have to receive the results straight from the TOEFL center? Or can I send them the copy of the results which I wil get? If not, then my TOEFL results will reach Cam before I manage to submit my application.
And is it true that your chances of being admitted increase if you apply sooner?
Sorry for my questions being as silly as they are ... and thanx in advance!

Few quick queries,
Can we submit more than two recommendations for Cambridge?
Are these two reccos strictly to be academic reccos, as in only professors from college should write these or can I also use a recco from a professor which I have been assisting on a research project that I am working for him?
In the A(10) section only those who have completed their first law degree and now working have to write their experiences? Or can final year law students also write their short one or two month internship experiences which they had during vacations in the middle of the undergraduate course?

Hi,
I have a question about the language requirement tests. I'm from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, India, and my undergraduate law degree has been taught entirely in English. Is it necessary for me to take the IELTS?

Well, as far as Cambridge is concerned I'm sure (or at least I hope) you have read their homepage. According to that, the IELTS shouldn't be necessary.
However, you are likely to encounter practical problems. I did an optional degree in Anlgo-American law during my studies and applied for a waiver of the language requirements test. Although I wrote them several letters/emails, however, I never got a definite reply on that matter. In the end, I decided to complete the test in order to get rid of that problem. The admissions office really is not too fast in such matters...
PS: Try to attach a letter from your university which certifies that your entire studies were held in English! Maybe that'll help...

How is it logical that the Cambridge ESOL Certificate of Proficiency in English is not mentioned as one of the tests accepted in the application procedure for Cam LLM? Oxfford and King's accept it. Do you think that perhaps Cam would accept it although it is not mentioned?
I took IELTS and I got 9 in all parts except for the writing- because of my poor time management I got 6.5 :(
Please, could you tell me whether it is wiser to send Proficiency or IELTS with 6.5 in the writing part? Or nothing?

Why don't you send both? The worst that can happen is they tell you to re-sit the IELTS. If you got 9.0 in all sections, except writing, it shouldn't be so hard to get the 7.5 with no less than 7.0 in a second attempt.
Posted Sep 10, 2010 19:32
Thanks for the suggestion, beicon. I guess I could send both and hope for the best. Dont have enough time to sit for another IELTS in time to send the results along with my application anyway.
Are you also applying for 2011/12?

Nope. I applied for 2010/11. Got rejections from Oxbridge, but I'm joining UCL later in September.

Guys (/girls?), please note that you can also send the IELTS results afterwards!!! If you don't submit them with your application, you will receive a conditional offer subject to the fulfilment of your language requirement, but you'll have time for that until next summer!!! So there's really plenty of time to sit the IELTS again if you should need to.

Btw., I only know that for sure as far as Cambridge (I did that) and Oxford (a good friend of mine who will be studying for the MJur did that) are concerned. We received our conditional offers and both did the IELTS in March.
Here's the link for Cantab.:
"You do not need to take the test before you apply, but, if you are made an offer and have not already met our English language requirements, one of the conditions of admission will be that you pass a test at the correct level."

Best of luck!

I'm aware of that option. However I am(slightly) paranoid with all that fierce and intimidating competition.. I figured that the lack of proof that one met the LLM language requirements would..hm..not exactly be a plus.
Or maybe I'm just being(too) paranoid :)

You're definitely right - of course it's not a plus, but I wouldn't put too much weight on that either. Basically, my impression is that it's all about your grades, grades and grades. If you were among the top 5-10% of your class, I guess you will most likely get an offer, whether or not you send in an IELTS along with your app.
Posted Sep 15, 2010 11:19
Dear Dutchman, would you pleeease be so kind as to advise me on this one thing that's been bothering me? Namely, do you think that it is better to send my app earlier- that is, at the beginning of October- but with that my sad 6.5 in writing, or should I instead send a paper application in mid November along with decent IELTS scores?
Is it more important to send my app earlier or complete?- if it isn't possible to do both obviously :(
Thnx!!!

As far as Camb and Ox are concerned, they don't have rolling admissions (unlike LSE for example), so my (personal!) impression is that an early application doesn't necessarily have such a big advantage. For example, I applied at Cambridge very late (online around November 10, I think), but received the informal offer email very very early nonetheless (on December 21).
If you have everything but the IELTS ready, you could call the BoGS (don't email them, they probably won't reply) and ask whether you can submit your application now, and send in your IELTS as soon as you have it. If that option doesn't exist, I'd rather send in the complete materials in November or everything but the IELTS (so that you will - if successful - get a conditional offer subject to the language requirements).
In any case, I think you should redo the test in order to get the necessary scores (although with your results in the other parts it is quite obvious that you are proficient enough in English).
Best of luck!!!

Hi to all!
I know my question might be a little stupid, but I would appreciate your help very much!
I started to gather documents necessary for the application for Cambridge, but I can't seem to find the application anywhere online!
I only found the application for 2010/2011....
I would be very grateful if somebody could send me the link needed!
Thanks to all!
