Anyone has already applied for acommodation?
Posted Mar 11, 2010 17:28
I have (couples accommodation). I applied right after receiving the offer (end of December). I rang the accommodation office and they said I shouldn't expect to hear from them before the deadline for others to apply expires... I reckon the deadline is at the end of May or June... don't really remember right now.

Actually you don't get to pick a specific hall or residence... you can only state on the application form what factors are most important to you (for instance, en-suite, location, price).
You should have a look at application form:

Hi,
pleased to meet all of you!! see you all next September...
considering that it is stated that preference is given to non-uk / non-eu students, do you consider it worth applying for accomodation all the same, since you'd only get a reply by the end of august (if I remember correctly that is!)?

Pleased to meet you too GeorgeB. I gather you're from the UK or from any where else in Europe, right? I think that it depends on how easy it'd be for you to find a place (considering you're already in the UK or Europe) in London. Anyway, I guess it wouldn't hurt to fill in an application form and post it off to UCL. What's the worst that can happen? They say no? In other words, I'd apply for accommodation anyway if I were you... I haven't done much research yet but I reckon/hope university accommodation is cheaper...

UK and other EU graduate students
Graduate students from the UK/EU are strongly advised to seek private sector accommodation. No offer of accommodation will be made before the start of the first term to such students.
