it all depends!..
are you after a laptop or a desktop?
I would suggest a laptop. If you want to purchase a low price range laptop, a netbook will be highly valuable asset for the uni life style. otherwise you can always purchase a proper laptop with cd drive..but in university, students hardly use the cd drive....i would suggest a netbook (samsung) or a MAC...

Thank you! I'm sorry I wasn't too clear, obviously I meant laptop but there are no specifications for the course right? Cos in some schools they have preferences.. And also, what I really wanted to know was whether it had to be windows or if it could also be Mac. And you say Mac is good, so that's great! Thanks again :)

Hi!
I am also going to QMUL. Where are you planning to stay? I have got Chesney.
I already have a laptop, which is a hp compaq. I am planning to bring that along with me. I also agree with the specifications that Rabia has given. I suppose your laptop have to have at least those requirements that he has given.
Hoping to see you next month..

I'd say spring for a Mac ;) Even entry level would be sweet.
I'm at QMUL, and use a mac, but I see people using pretty much whatever they like. The course material is mostly delivered via the web so anything with a browser!
