thinking of living in private accom as the uni accom are halls of residence, something, as a post-grad student, I wouldn't be too keen on!

Too crowded? Too noisy? Full of undergrad?

Flat living is ideal for a London P/G. LSE has a number of self-contained flats available for students (LSE flats are limited, so it's best to apply as soon as you accept your offer of admission). Having said this, it would be advantageous to stay within the proximity of Houghton Street and Aldwych, so that you can have access to the library even during late hours without having to rush and take the tube before the station closes. If you can afford it, you can share a flat with your friends or prospective classmates in central or southwest London. The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is a pleasant, albeit costly, place to live while in London.

Hi All,

I'm currently living at Rosebery Hall, which is about 20 minute walk from the school. It's located in Islington and is close to supermarket, shops, transport, etc.

As a postgraduate, I wouldn't be too concerned about noise, undergrads, etc. I've found that as a postgraduate in a new city, it's really nice to have people around. You also get to meet people from all walks of life, there's a sense of support and you'll make some life-long friends.

By the way - I'm almost 31, in a long term relationship (7 years) and have been living like a 'proper' adult for many years - but I still couldn't imagine taking private accommodation in London. I would have missed out on so much.

They're just some thought from someone who's doing it.

Cheers
Jason
