LLM in aberdeen

thankx jack u have been of great help. even i am interested in the oil and gas law subject. my application form and all documents that i have should be sent by courier or is it ok that i can e-mail them?when did u finish ur law graduation?have u worked in the field before?
there are some people who are telling me that to do the oil and gas programme i have to already be a specialist in the field.is there something like that?i hope it will benefit me even if i have just finished my graduation in LLB.

Hey Sara,
for all your application form questions I would advice you to email to this adress, caroline ransom who is in charge of the enquiries for the LLM
law-pg-enquiries@abdn.ac.uk
she is very kind and will reply you very fastly.
I think you gotta send it via mail with a C.V your marks, proof of english efficiency if you are not english.
About myself, I am not graduated yet.
I gonna finish my master 2 in anglo american business law in Paris 1.
I have no work experience in the oil and gas law field.
There are no requirements about it. I am sure that we will be on an equal foot after a while. I have no worry about it, even if I know that most of the prospective students work in that field.
Anyway it gonna be great for us to have them in the LLM!

hi jack...is it possible to work and study for a full time student?
hw much do u think is the monthly expense of staying in aberdeen ?and if i work hw much can i make on a per hour basis?
where ru from?

I am french and I am living in Paris, i gonna sit for the bar exam in next september.
I think that we gonna have only two lectures a week, so that is possible to get a job in Aberdeen, in pubs, hotels...
There is no minimum legal rate, so I can't tell you the amount you gonna get.
I think around 6 pounds an hour is a good wage.
A friend of mine used to work in the holiday Inn, and was much more paid.
yet, there is a lot of personal work for the LLM, so do not forget it

Hi Jack, thx for all your responses they've been very helpful. I applied very late for the same programme so am yet to receive an offer. my question is, do u have an idea of the cost of accomodation, and where would u rather stay? school owned apartments or private owned, which has a cheaper rate, bearing in mind distance, transportation and proximiity.

Hi the accomodation is around 72£ per week for the cheapest one...I applied for it...that is not great but it is all right if you dont want to spend so much money in it.
It is a small room with a desk, 2 chairs, a bed, wardrobe.
You gonna share your kitchen, 2 loos and the large bathroom with 5 other guys.
that was for myself a very good experience (I used to be in aberdeen for my erasmus) and I improved a lot my english wwith my flatmates.
We raised in previous post the issue of the accomodation shortage.
Indeed, a part of the hall of residence is rebuilt . Therefore, there is not enough rooms for all.
In addition, the prices are more expensive in the private sector and you gotta start your lease from july or august, for one year!
It is nearly 25 mn walk from the uni...you gonna cross a large park (seaton park) to go to uni and gonna see one of the oldest granit church of the world!it could be worst!
the advantages with hillheads is that U have many services:
laundry, store, video club, video games, pools, the pub (watering hole) tennis court, ping pong....and the bus starting in front of the main building and give you a lift to downtown...
that is it!

hello...hw ru?
in your last post u told me that on an average one can earn 6 pounds an hour. i wanted to know that what kind of jobs r available to students and how many hours do the employers expect u to work minimum in order to employ.
or is it on students how many hours they want to work?
is it prctically possible to work and study both at thw same time?

Hi all!

Just a few words to tell all of you that I have been awarded two scholarships for my LLM oil and gas law next year.
One law firm and one international institution decided to support my project, thus for all of you who hesitated to join the LLM oil and gas law regarding reputation or job prospective I think that is a good answer!!!

One of them was given to me by a big 4 but that is via a french procedure so I don't think you coud apply for it.
The other one was offered by the british council again for french students who want to go to study in the UK

You can make your LLM whenever you want..before or after being qualified, it is up to U...I prefer to try to pass it before the begining of the LLM, we will see :)
