LLM Finance&Bankig

Banker

Hey Guys! need some help. Have you ever heard about University of Westminster? Is it a real shit or not. Is it worth trying? Further can you recommend QMUL for Finance&Banking LLM should not be so bad or? Unfortunately I am too late to try anything else. In early January I applied for LSE but they fucked me because all places had been distributed. Thanks a lot for any at least little bit useful comments and take care.

haha I'd better set the tone for the responses to come just in case. HmMm mate, hearing about Westminster is just about all I wanna do with that institution. Whether its real shit or not its pretty debatable. but then again, thats something i wouldnt even bother trying to do.

QM is alrite i guess. but i think its value has significantly gone down after they decided to do away with the intercoll LLM. it really depends on your personal expectations for yourself. I would rate Manchester Uni, Nottingham, higher than QM.

Thanks for very positive ranking of that institution. So it seems that the only thing they can offer is living in central London. Funny is that fees are on the same level as at LSE. But I guess that LSE is little bit better ranked.

Do you know if QM quits intercoll LLM already for 2007-2008? Why did they do so? As to Manchester I did not hear anything good about it either. Anyway I intend to choose something in London but it seems that instead of LLM I will go only for a secondment which is not so exciting because I will have to work like a hell again.

2006-2007 was the last year of the intercollegiate program.

QM did not quit the the intercollegiate program. I heard that this program has collapsed as a result of the UCL's decision to leave it (as LSE did two years ago). Each college will have its own LLM program for the next academic year.

Hey friend!

Actually, Westminster is not a very good choice!! They are out of any respectable ranking.

Although, Queen Mary is much respectable and they have a very quality staff.

I would take care with our friend Rendition, but if you take a look to his post, It is always about "apply to UCL..."!!!

I agree with him that Nottingham and Manchester have a great name, but I think QMUL is years in front! Especialy to Banking...

Cheers

hey guys haha im not Mr UCL
im doing my final year undergrad and im 3 hrs away to liberation! =)
well one of the reasons why i dont favour QMUL at all is because for my undergrad, they gave me an offer even before I took my A levels. Says much about their selection criteria huh. but dont get me wrong, they may be a good institution, but cos im not part of it, i wouldnt be able to offer concrete recommendations to the effect. But I for one would like to know that I worked hard for something and not offered to me on a silver plate. It very much self gratification to a certain extent. Pride and all that matters as well as substance.

Well I have so far an offer from Cantab, KCL and LSE. and i am still awaiting a response from UCL. Obviously if I get my first, I will go to cantab without even blinking an eyelid. But belies that choice would be a conundrum wrt the london unis.

I rate UCL cos of the academics there really. Just take a look and correct me if I am in anyway wrong. its no wonder why the intercoll llm's history.
rather than do a critique all the way from the docklands, id rather ask the man himself. It certainly makes a lot more sense. sure their curriculum on paper looks really corporate orientated, but that to me is simply marketing technique. Furthermore my posts are really UCL orientated cos its the only first tier institution still accepting applications. Comon, everyone who is doing their last min apps should at least give that place a shot. Don't kid yourself by believing otherwise.

and as to manchester it really is a great institution once again look at the teaching staff. from neil duxbury who is i believe the sole authority in american legal realism in the uk and anthony ogus whose strength is the pinnacle of regulation and economic theory, and lets not mention andrew sanders and rodney brazier. But hey i havn't applied so that shows u where my priorities lie.

Finally =) if you wanna stay in london and have a blast thats a valid reason as well. And if thats the case i would recommend (after the obvious unis) SOAS, London City (because on paper the syllabus is really good!) and finally QMUL. but this is a biased opinion from a biased perspective. DO NOT HEED MY ADVICE. haha
