Dear Rusian,
Russia is most certainly party of Europe!
In fact there is a lot of potential in London. One of my Russian LLM students from this year has just been taken on to work on all the extradition requests your Prime Minister keeps sending us! I have also just sent four of my Russian students from last year off to one of the London law firms which does a lot of Russian litigation. You do realise that something like half of the commercial cases in the English high court are now Russian or Ukrainian. In other words if you are a capable young lawyer with a good education from the Russian Federation and a good positive attitude there are definitively possibilities.
Hope the above helps
yours sincerely

Hello Alan
Could you please also tell me about career prospects for a specialist in corporate and commercial law?
I am not sure yet whether I should take my digree in corporate law, or commercial law, or whether it should be general, without specialisation at all. What option do you think is better from the 'career-in-London' point of view?
Thanks.

Dear Suchette,
Too many variables!! Better email with me with a copy of your CV and I'll give you a view.
I don't think I can say much on so little information!
regards
alan

I was asked earlier about opportunities for Russian lawyers after studying in London.
I provide some further answers in my piece in todays New York Times.
