Can someone tell me when King's actual classes begin? I read on the website it begins Oct 3. But I read here that people are going for some program on Sept 20...do you have to come that early or would it be okay, say, to arrive on Sept 26 or so? Thanks!

Actual classes begin on 3 October, but enrolment takes place in the week beginning 19 September. There's also some "induction programme" on 28 and 30 September (http://www.kcl.ac.uk/depsta/law/incoming/pgprog.html). There's supposed to be some kind of orientation programme for international students, but the main programme is full and the mini programme is on 30 September when we won't have time for it.
Hope this helped - have you got an offer from King's now?

Hi Nicky--no, no offer :( But no rejection either, still waiting. I wanted to call this morning but I am stuck at work and my phone card just ran out. BUt the online tracking system said they mailed me a decision on Aug 10, should I have gotten it by now? I read a post here where someone said the Admissions dept was really sloppy with things. I sent the dept an email today, but I realize they probably don't read their emails because it's their policy to refer us to the online tracking system.
I just figured I'd ask about the start dates to be prepared in case...if I don't get into King's, I'll probably be headed to Queen Mary in Sept. But I am keeping my fingers crossed! By the way, is it necessary to enroll ON september 19, or is that just when it begins and it runs from then on? I am just asking because while I could get there by then, it would be much easier for me if I could arrive later in the month.

Okay, i didn't get into King's :( I got news today via email (they finally responded). I am disappointed....but did I still get into Queen Mary. I would really like to still do an LLM, is Queen Mary still a good school? I could still take classes at King's, right? And I still get a degree from the U of L? I'm still a bit confused how it all works. Would it be better to defer for a year or does it not really make that big a difference--esp considering I am returning to the US.

Oh, so sorry for you! Don't worry and go to QM - it is a very good school, and you will be able to take two courses from another college, i.e. also King's if you like. I think there are some restrictions as to which courses are open for students from other colleges, but I might be wrong about this.
I believe the certificate will state which college we attended, but since it's all UoL, it shouldn't make too much of a difference.
Oh, and I know someone with an almost unbelievably good exam who took QM as his first choice, if that's any consolation to you :)
