Hi Albion,
there is such a possibility. Though I do not think that it is so... Why should they slow down your application? It only creates the probles to them: cause they still have to come back to you.
I just think that the part of their admission team works faster then the other one. And they are one of the biggers universities in London in terms of number of admitted and applied students.
And if you read the message on their site, it states that application arriving in March would be proceedered during 8 weeks...
That's my point of view.
Regards,
Maria

Thank you very much Maria,
I have been notified that my "last minute" application (I sent it just one week ago) could be taken up to 8 weeks to be proceeded.
My point, after reading your post, was that, if you got your response 3 weeks after your application, while your friend is still awaiting, that might mean that
(i) some team is faster than others or
(ii) that profiles rated as suitable or "outstanding" might be processed faster than those on average
Do you think that might make sense?
Thank you very much.
All the best

Dear Albion,
yes, it may make sense. Though I think it is done in all universities. If you search on King's site how the decision is taken, you will notice that at least two King's academics (!) are reviewing your profile and make a consolidated desicion.
Currently they are overloaded... so the decision may take longer. I do think that they are trying to reviewe as many applications as it is possible before sending offers, just to be sure that the best candidates are getting in. But it is done everywhere. That is why universities starts to collect applications in September/October and issue first offers in late January...
Do not think that you will be rejected if you do not get a reply in one minute. Application procedure is jsut so slow and complicated sometimes...
So fingers crossed and hope for the best!
Good luck.

Hi, all the posts and discussions are of great help. Thanks.
My application status shows as "Institution Processing". Does anyone know what that means? Presumably, is this stage 1??

Hi, mhr7504,
No. It is "pre-stage 1". This is the time they downloan your application, collect your docs together, make your file and transfer it to the admission team... Shortly you will receive your tracking number and would have an opportunity to monitore your application online.
Good luck.

Hi there,
I sent my application very last minute, and the end of march and received an unconditional offer after ten days. My application never left stage 1 in the tracker.
I have to tell you though, that I asked to speed up a little bit, as I needed an offer in order to apply for a scholarship. They normally do not fast track, but in my case apparently they did.
Hope to see you all in September in London!
cheers

Hi everybody!
I also received a conditional offer today. My application was at the stage 1 ten days ago. it was really quick.
maybe it is because I applied later than the others.
I sent my application to queen mary 1 month ago ans I have no news, no e-mails from them.
Was it the same for you? I think that the post office lost my letter. I called up queen mary but they told me that they don't know because they received so many applications. Do you advise me to send it again or to wait?
thank you.

For everyone who has gotten an offer thus far, are you aware that we have a three week deadline in which to accept the offer? or so it says on the website anyway.
I was actually unaware of this because no where did it state so in the email I was sent.
Also, do we just call them up and accept the offer?
Some direction on this matter would be much appreciated.
Hi
The 3 week deadline is for unconditional offers as far as I know. You can just email your confirmation to them.

Hi
I also received a conditional offer from KCL on April 18, 2008 by email.
I'd applied in January end but my supporting documents were only sent sometime last week. I'll probably take up the KCL offer once I can structure the finances.
Has anyone here received a scholarship?
I need to submit my TOEFL/ IELTS scores before they give me an unconditional offer, which is an unnecessary condition considering I studied all throughout in English and am fluent in reading, writing, listening to and speaking English.
Anyway hope to see the persons who're going to KCL in London. All the best to those who are still waiting for admission.
I've also got admission to University of Manchester but in all probability would take up the King's College London offer.
Cheers
Prashant

Hallo to all the lucky ones and also those who are uncertain of their verdict so far:)
I applied to King's the very last minute march 31, and to my surprise I was made a very "popular" conditional offer dependent on my English proficiency, even though I scored 7.0 the subscores did not fulfil the requirements. That I will probably manage to deal with, at the end I might just decide on taking the presessional course. Another issue is my eligibility for part-time study, since that is what I want to do, the addmissions team requires to have a basis to grant me a status of a part-time student. They do offer themselves, to provide a letter from the employer (based in UK I suppose) stating that I will be working at least 22 hours per week within the period of my tutoring, but I hardly imagine to obtain such a reference at least now, until I actually go to London. I wonder if anyone else has such a matter to resolve? and if anyone has thought of alternative ways what could that be. Yeah I forgot to mention I am a EU citizen working in non-EU right now.
Thank you in advance, would appriciate any kind of relevant responce.

Hi...ive received a conditional offer from kcl for the MA in International Peace and Security.. i know its not exactly an llm (as it combines modules from the LLM pgm and the War studies dept) but has anyone else been accepted to this pgm?...Im waiting on LSE and UCL (llm in public international law)

Hi
I spoke to the KCL persons today and informed them that I had studied all throughout in English. After speaking with me, they informed me that if I submitted a letter from my University where I did my LLB, they would waive the TOEFL/ IELTS for me and give me unconditional admission.
So maybe others who have studied all throughout in English can make a similar request.
Cheers

Hi LJ
I've been given the unconditional offer for the LLM in International Finance a few days back. I've already sent them my hard copy acceptance because until they receive that, I can't apply online for the accommodation.
Hope to see you there in September 2008.
Cheers

Congrats on that Prash:)
I will be sending out the acceptance form soon too. Have you researched whether the prices for accomodation suggested by KCL are cheaper or more expensive than generally renting in that central area of London?
I will ask bout that today, when I receive a call from them. but wondered anyway if someone has already found out about it.

Great LJ. Hope to see you there. I've already applied for the accommodation at KCL residences. I don't plan to stay in private accommodation.
I think the prices of KCL are reasonable considering the location of their residences. I spoke to some friends who studied in London and one who is doing his PHD in London. Their advice was to stay in the KCL residences and preferably close to the Strand campus. If you rent privately, you'll be taking care of the electricity, heating, etc and your headache will increase according to my friends in London. In addition staying close to the Strand campus is an advantage especially since you're in the heart of the city.
You might find cheaper residences away from the main Strand campus and maybe in Zone 3-4 but the travel cost and time taken to travel to the campus may neutralize the cheaper rent. You'll also have all the other headaches of private accommodation.
I did do some research on the prices and by and large I found that the KCL residences were probably cheaper considering all aspects.

I´m in!
Today I reciedved the TOEFL score and I baaaarely made the rather harsh requirement of 109. I am so happy. Hope to see you all in September.
To comment on the housing issue above, I believe that the pricing is fair considering the location. You will probably not find anything better if subletting.

Hi Johan
Welcome. :) Will see you at KCL in September. What's your first preference for the accommodation? I've chosen Stamford Street Apartments. Hopefully will get that as it's the closest to the campus. Otherwise my 2nd choice is Wolfson House. Friend of mine advised me against opting for Great Dover Street Apartments as my 1st or 2nd preference. He said the location wasn't that great.

Prashbez.
Either Stamford or Gr. Dover St. - What was wrong with the location of Gr. Dover?
At first I was thinking about the Intercollegiate Halls but all of them were catered and that was to expensive for me to be honest (£1000/month).
Do you know when the lectures start?
