in-house lawyer

norella

Hi everybody,
I'd like to know if I need to be qualified as a lawyer in UK (England) to practise in a company (no law firm).
I am allready qualified in my country (Italy)
If yes, how can I achieve that qualification?
I mean, is it enough an LLM or should I pass a bar exam?
Sorry for my stupid question but I am a bit confused on that.
Your replies would be highly appreciated.
Many thanks

I think it depends on what you understand under 'in-house lawyer'. In my understanding you don't need to be qualified as a lawyer if your job is limited to consultative tasks but you'll need to qualify as a lawyer if you want, for example, to represent your company in court.
