Funding search (meet the deadlines????)

Guys!!!
I'm tottaly losted, I am from Uzbekistan, have just recieved my IELTS score 7.0. Curently I want to look for some scholarships in British Universities. I've applied for LSE by January 31, and think that it will be usefull to apply for other universities but they are very tight on deadlines (i.e. I missed most of them), especially if you're applying for the financial aid or something like this.

What do you think is it too late to look for the scholarships now?
Thanks for all in advance

Hi! I am from Kazakhstan, so we are quite neighbours!!
Anyway, let's cut to the deal... IELTS 7.0 is not bad... and will work for most of unis (plz be informed that besides overal score some pesty unies may check essay score:)!

The biggest problem (with top schools) might be enrollment deadlines - it's already March!

I assume that you in no way plan to pay by yourself. I think there is still a chance to get a "discount". You should apply asap.

My bro didn't get any in Birmingham, BUT my former groupmate obtained 50% discount in the same school in 2004-2005 LLM programme. She applied for admission and fin.aid at the same time.

But I think applying to top 5 will not give results at the moment. i would recommend to try to apply to others... Durham is still accepting, so is Bristol...

Good luck!

Dear Gamayun,
Thank you very much.
You're right I'm expecting thatany of the university will give "special offer". It is the only chance to have my LLM completed by the following year.
Again thank you very much for your advice. where are you now? in Kazakhstan? I've got a lot of friends living there. Actually I went there a week ago in order to have an interview with one of the Kazakh Law firm.

My best best wishes to you
REHMET.

Do not panic... even if you fail this year, you can apply in the next. I was trying to apply for JD program with several U.S. schools and failed. This year I decided to apply for Chevening Award and got it - now will use such an excellent opportunity to study in the UK. Unfortunately, I will have to reject offers from the USA.

Nevertheless, I did not give up with my plans to study in the USA. I agree with one of participants of this forum that American degree is recognized all over the world.

Did you try Muskie Scholarship? My colleague from Uzbekistan obtained one. You should consider it as a

Hi there!

Can you explain me why do you need a LLM?

LLM is virtually useless if you plan to move from your home country to another one. It gives some advantage though for applying to local positions in ILF.

JD is much better and more expensive lol

I will disagree with you.
Everything depends on the person. One can succeed in foreign country even without ANY degree... my friend/colleague worked as a IP attorney when he moved to the USA and now, years after moving to the USA, he applied to the top 10 law school for LLM in IP, another former colleague moved to NY and works as tax attorney in major NY law firm... so dreams do come true, one needs to believe and try hard to achieve the goal...

Dear Turchik, LLM WILL definitely benefit in your life sooner or later and even in unexpected way - some my friends met their future spouses while doing their LLMs, some found job and some public acknowledgement :) So I might say it is really advantageous.... no virtuallity!
AND UK or US degree gives great advantages even for a first-year lawyer with little experience.

So Turchik, you should strive for your goal...

And yeah, re: JD... I would agree that JD is quite a rare thing here in post-Soviet states... due to many reasons. But I can say that the final stage for both LLM and JD students is the same - Bar. so if there is one goal why do you need to pay more. besides, I believe that would be more interesting for Turchik, it would be harder to get financing of JD studies than funds for LLM.
