English test results after applying

camilleg6

Hello everyone,

I decided recently to apply for an LLM in the UK and Ireland (KCL, QMU, UCL, Trinity, Edinburgh) and I just found out that my TOEFL Test was expired (anyway I only got 97).

Is it possible to send my application with my old test result and add that the results of the new test will arrive at the end of March? My understanding of the LLM application in UK University was : first arrive, first serve, so I want to send them my application asap.

What do you think? Sould I wait for my test results before I send my application or can the test results be sent afterwards?

Any advise is welcome!

Hi there,

Some universities let you submit your application without the English test results, as long as you tell them you are going to take it soon. Usually what happens is that they will give you a conditional offer, with the English test results as part of the conditions.

That's what happened with me for UCL: I submitted my application a month before I took the IELTS exam, and they gave me a conditional offer, with my IELTS results as part of their conditions. QMUL follows the same policy (I submitted my application without the English language test results, and still got an offer). For KCL, once you've submitted your application, you can upload your English language test results afterwards on their online portal.

My advice would be to send your application anyway without the English language test results, as long as you tell them that you are planning on sending them the results as soon as you have them. Though you'll need to check with the universities individually to make sure they accept the English language test results after you've submitted your application (I don't know whether Trinity and Edinburgh follow the same policy because I did not apply for these universities, so you will need to check).

Hope this helps, and good luck :)
