Hi everyone,
I am considering taking up the LLm in international commercial Law either in Durham or in Aberdeen.
Although they are both highly ranked, it seems Durham's reputation is more strongly established within English firms and worldwide, while aberdeen has hardly been heard of.
I lack of an English point of view regarding how well these universities are considered in the UK, and how the reputation of each is likely to boost a carriere, and to enable me to practice anywhere in the world.
I intend to settle down in the UK for a while after that.
thanks a lot, max

With respect to reputation and graduate prospectus, I would also recommend Durhan.
And congratulation with admissions!

Hi Pedrinus,
Thanks. Yes, the information is really helpful. Now I have to make double-efforts and to receive the solicitor's status this July. QLTT is the best way to save time and money...
Re UCL application, I wish you luck. I applied on 1 February 2008 and still was admitted. So I think that impossible is nothing. And I never believed in this "rolling bases" - I think that when a program has a deadline, they will save a few places for strong candidates. So keep fingers crossed!
And even if the UCL will be full, you still have a very good offer. Durham is one of the best. Forget the rankings. No university can guarantee you anything. Oxbidge will just guarantee you an enterview with your dream firm. But so does Durham!
Btw, what ares of law are you interested in?
Yet again, thanks for info re QLTT.
Regards,
Maria

Pedrinus,
You seems to be very competent in questions of the all qualification procedures with UK law society. I wish you good luck with you LLM and LPC courses... Btw, are going to finish your LLM and then start the PLC?.. If so, are you going to take LPC on part-time bases, together with traenee contract?..
And what comes first - LPC or the traenee?.. Is it nessesary to have 2 year experience as a traenee to become a solicitor? And there is the whole procedure described step-by-step?..
I am interested in banking and finance law. Though, currently I do not know is after finishing my LLM I will stay in UK or come back to my home country. I have a clear and strong perspectives here and I still does not understand how all this UK qualification procedure works... As I understand I can not practice law while I did not finish LPC (btw, after finishing the LPC course you take exam and obtain a licence?).
I would appreciete you help with respect to the above.
Thanks,
Maria
