Chevening - Cambridge

nauy96llm

Hi guys, hope you're doing well.

I've made it to the 2nd stage of the Chevening scholarship. Pretty straightforward question: should I communicate this to Cambridge as a means to boost my application?

I do acknowledge that passing into the 2nd stage (interview) does not mean I'm gonna get the scholarship.

However, while I have a really strong profile for Cambridge's LLM (work experience + articles + speaking engagements + leadership + pro bono, etc.), neither my TOEFL score nor my GPA/rank are good enough. Therefore, I was wondering whether communicating this could leverage my application to Cambridge.

Tks!

I am a Cambridge alumni and Chevening scholar and I say no. This does not help at all your LLM application - I even doubt someone would respond and transfer that info to the admission pannel. Sorry, but that is what I believe.
Also, you just went to the 2nd phase of Chevening selection, you are not still selected. So maybe you are being too anxious and should just wait the results of everything.

Sorry for the negative answer. I hope you get selected for both. Cambridge and Chevening are excellent.

Thank you so much for your reply! this is very helpful, really.

I take advantage to ask you whether you believe not having the required TOEFL nor one outstanding GPA would prevent me from being admitted to CLS. My profile other than that is really strong, professionally and academically (I don't say this to presume my merits but because in the past, being aware of my weaknesses, I tried to offset them by performing many relevant academic activities plus my work experience).

I've hear of people getting in without the required GPA (but, very very close). I have never heard of anyone in without the required Toelf/IELTS grade. Check out reddit and the student room

From what I have heard, universities in the United Kingdom are very adamant about the mininum GPA.
