We need some extra information about you:
How big is your class? Top five means nothing if there's only ten of you.
What country and what university are you from? Buxton, Alabama, is shit, Harvard is not.
What are, in your own view, your weak points? What do the top four guys at your school have and you don't?
Please tell us.
Fast, cause time is running out.

I am in the top 5% out of a class of 240 students. I am studying at Government Law College, Mumbai (india) one of the top law colleges of the country. I think i have an allround CV with teverything others have something missing, either they are not published or have not mooted. i am definitely in the top 5

I never got these questions students post here from time to time... No one in this group can tell you what your chances are, as acceptance is based on a wide range of factors, some of which you don't even have control over as an applicant.
Personally speaking I think those people who come here and post their cvs and class ranking only do that to brag about themselves more than anything and get the rest of the members of the group nervous. There is no reason not to apply if you're interested in a particular school or program - just apply and see what happens. Period.

I couldn't agree more.
And as far as the thread opener (16 amit) is concerned: I talked to a couple of fellow Cambridge LLMs from India today who were anything but impressed by his CV. Apparently their grades were much better than his.
Good luck to him anyway.

Mr Hopeful Candidate, please refrain from such comments. If you don't understand y most students ask about their chances, then there is no need to comment on such posts and waste your time. It's not about bragging, it's about prioritizing one's expectations and being ready for disappointment or elation. There is nothing wrong in asking such questions because people who post such questions don't expect amateurs like you to reply, they expect people who are actually experienced, who know what it takes to reach the top colleges to reply.

Mr Eppendorf
Thank you for letting me know that people weren't impressed by my CV. And i fail to understand that if you agreed with Hopeful candidate then why would you ask me about more information. I suggest those fellow cambridge LLM's to come to Mumbai University and secure the marks i have before making a judgement. Please, i would suggest if you are not willing to help and then please refrain from commenting and posting such posts.

16 Amit, I think I agree with Dom Woo. Just apply, what do you have to lose? ( if the money you spend on the application fees is not a consideration.)
I think different people use this site for different purposes, and its only human to ask for reassurances.
66% from some old school universities in India, is not bad at all. Good luck for your applications. :)
