I applied to both PhD and MLitt at Cambridge. Anyone in the same boat?

I have an interview this week for the PhD - has anyone interviewed yet? If so, what's it like?

Much to my surprise, they have started to send interview requests this time around. It seems it is only three weeks since they began reviewing. My status changed to 'under review' on 8 Jan.

I also expected them to be delayed since the application didn't update to 'under review' before 8 Jan. Then again, the status is updated manually, and thus not necessarily indicative of anything. Some of the funding rankings the department has to make are earlier than others, so they'd still have to start interviews around the same time as earlier years. They started interviews already last week from what I know, so good luck!

Thank you for your kindest comfort, as I appreciate they may prioritise some applications due to the scholarships. I personally received a reminder of an extra scholarship I could apply. Meantime, much hope to receive some invitation for interview soon. Good luck to us all!

I applied for the PhD and the LLM. No idea if I'll get into either, but it would be nice.
No word on an interview, but the PhD's status changed to under department review a few days before the LLM's.

Does anyone have any news today?
Posted Jan 29, 2021 20:21
Nope, but honestly, I expect I'll hear nothing after the interview until mid-Feb or so.

Any new interview invites or other developments yet folks?
Posted Feb 02, 2021 20:46
No, but it seems the interview is undergoing.

So has every shortlisted candidate been invited for interview? Or can others still hope to get an interview email?

I don't think there's a hard cap on when they stop doing interviews. In previous years they seemed to interview until mid-late Feb-ish?

Has anyone else been interviewed? Any offers or rejections so far?
Posted Feb 12, 2021 21:10
At this point if we've not been interviewed, guess that should mean a rejection, right?

I guess so... But i’m not sure. I wondered if they sent out some rejections already, and we were in the limbo, like we were not exceptionally good to be accepted at this point but not too bad to be rejected just yet. But maybe i’m being too optimistic lol

I guess what lies ahead is rejection merely. Yet, there is no sign that they have rolled out rejections. I could only hope they may consider my MLitt application separately from the PhD one ......

I wouldn't be worried until the rejection is actually sent. There might be various reasons why you weren't interviewed yet, and they might not necessarily be related to a rejection. True, it appears that people moved to GAO slightly earlier this year than before, but who knows what was not reported earlier years. They do give around 50 or so offers in the end, so there's still room for a bit of optimism.

Great congratulations to those who have received the offer of PhD. Still waiting for the MLitt. Suggest everyone to check the portal today as there might have been some updates.

It seems they started to send some rejections... Someone posted they’ve been rejection on Grad Cafe.
