Cambridge LLM 2017 - 2018 Applicants

BDL

Hi all.

I'm still UCDC on CAMSIS, but I got an offer for a scholarship from a college who needed to know promptly whether I could accept it or not. I rang Ms Wade who told me over the phone that I would be made an offer, but it could take up to a week to make it onto CAMSIS.

I'm a bit anxious about what the conditions may be though as I've got to defer a Bar scholarship if I want to take this LLM up. Does anyone from an English uni know whether theyre likely to ask for a specific overall percentage (e.g. 75%), a general degree classification (first class degree), or a classification for my final year (e.g. first class average in final year)?

Hi BDL and others, what number do you ring Ms Wade at? And when you say you want to ask for an update, does she entertain you rightaway or is it quite difficult to get her to give you info? Thanks

Hello everyone! I have a question for you.

Like some of you I am still UCDC. After I wrote to Ms. Wade asking her about the status of my application, I received an email from her saying that she was pleased to "confirm that you have been recommended by the Faculty of Law to the Graduate Admissions Office for a conditional offer for the Cambridge LLM programme".

Should I be happy about that or does it only mean what I already know -that I am UCDC-?

Hey i was told the same thing on the phone when i spoke to her last Friday, when i asked her what it meant, she said "awaiting decision by the board of graduate studies" so, it also means that 99.99% you'll be given an offer. Congratulations!

Does anyone know if you have already completed your law degree met the English requirement and have been working when you applied, then would you still receive a conditional offer, assuming you have been selected?

Yep, everyone gets a conditional offer. You're gonna have to sign the Financial Undertaking Form, and possibly apply for a visa, send out original transcripts and that kind of stuff

Hey ik0214. My status is awaiting for the decision by the board of the graduate studies. And it lasts for 2 weeks. Does it mean I can receive a conditional offer? Thanks so much.

What i have gathered from the chat on this thread and the previous years is that - awaiting decision by the board of graduate studies means that you will receive a conditional offer. Apparently this stage is only a formality and you have been selected. You should receive an offer soon. Seeing how they have delayed everything this year, it might take longer!

I'm at an Irish uni but we use the same scoring system as my uni is a sister college of Cambridge and I am required to get a first in my final year (slightly odd as my final degree mark is an average of my third and fourth year) so I assume it'll be the same for you so whatever your uni considers to be a first. I remember someone further back in the thread said that they had talked to Ms Wade at the Open Day and she said its really odd to ask for a particular percentage from students at UK universities. Congratulations on your scholarship offer!

My application status changed exactly like yours but my camsis is still showing "awaiting approval by BGS". I hope I will receive an offer soon.
Can someone who have already received an offer please confirm if they have received college offers or any funding (scholarship) update. I see one of us has already received a college offer and scholarship update without receiving a formal offer from the GAO. Thank you in advance.

I think i read somewhere that Cam doesn't have a waitlist, which leaves us with the other hypothesis: we are not a priority. Or they are simply running (very) late and randomly our files were at the bottom of the pile and we have to wait longer.
In any case, a simple email explainning the situation would be very much appreciated.

I don't think anyone has received scholarship updates so far. The person who got the bar scholarship was talking about a different programme...Also, no clue about college offers. Someone posted that their status now says that Cambridge is looking for colleges, but I don't think they've been offered a place yet.

(In my case, I got an e-mail confirming that I've been selected for a conditional offer, but I'm still UCDC on Camsis. Didn't get any other details)

oh yes u are right - saw this on the LLM web
"Please note that we do not operate a waiting list. The Admissions Committee is not able to provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants or consider requests for reconsideration."

Could it be that they are still making decisions......?
