Is there a chance the offer will not be approved at this stage? I mean awaiting approval by BoGS obviously.

"The Board is responsible for oversight of quality in graduate admissions and in this role sets the baseline for the conditions applied to offers: - required levels for academic and English language attainment; - by reference to the cost of living, the minimum level of funding a candidate will need in addition to fees; - ensure that he or she is registered for use of CGSRS.
The Board has power to question and decline a degree committee's recommendation to make an offer to any candidate who does not meet these criteria."

It would this appear that it may well set aside the DC's recommendation to give an LLM candidate an offer, e.g. if if they do not agree that the academic capacity of an applicant reaches the level of quality Cambridge seeks.

I got an e-mail last week, March 18, 2016 to be precise, that I should go and complete an application online. I don't really know whether I stand any chance at this stage.

Congratulations to all those who have survived this anxiously long month. Someone please create a Facebook group for the class of 2016-17 so that we get to see a few familiar faces this fall. Also, has anyone applied to or been accepted by Downing College? How long does it usually take for a college to get back?

I recall seeing on one of the previous pages that someone already set one up - is this the case or am I thinking of a previous year's Cambridge LLM discussion thread?

How likely is it to get into your second choice preference college if you didn't get into your first? I put Queen's as second preference and have a feeling that my chances won't be so good...

I don't know of any statistics. The rumor has it, though, that certain colleges will not accept students that indicated them as their second choice (purely out of spite, I guess).

So I suppose I should be expecting a college offer from a postgrad/mature college then... Thanks anyways

My wife was allocated there, and we are trying to change in order to be allocated at the same college, but it doesnt look likely.
Apparently, it is very difficult to get a change of college (specially at this time), and can only be based on very specific reasons (disabilities better served by another college or scholarships given by another college).

Hello,
Is your wife going to study for the LLM too? :) Did you send an e-mail to Ms Wade to try to change the college allocation?

Yes, she is also studying an LLM. We also wrote to Ms. Wade but she cannot help you in this regard as colleges are independent. Actually, it is absolutely up to each college to decide whether they accept to release you, and other colleges cannot offer a membership until you are released from your previous college.
