berkeley v king's advice needed!!!

till recently i was happy as I had secured admission to King's College London and I was all pumped about an LLM in competition law from King's. But just yesterday I got an offer from UC Berkeley who had earlier put me on the waiting list. My intended course is a specialization in competition law. But now I dont know which college to choose, King's or Berkeley. Any suggestions or ideas??

Berkeley!! It's Berkeley!

Where did you do your undergrad etc? That might make a difference... if you've 'ticked the good English uni' box so to speak, Berkeley will add another string to your bow. I guess it works the other way round too.

they're both roughly comparable. would you rather live in london or northern california? also bear in mind that berkely fees are more than 2x kings. were it me that would probably persuade me to go for kings, though perhaps that's because i'm piss poor :)

If you were talking Harvard, Yale, Stanford etc. I'd say go for it. But Berkeley - while a high-profile US law school - I wouldn't think is worth the additional cost compared to KCL unless you intend to practice in the US.

Hey!

I'm from India too. I too received an offer from King's but am giving it up in favour of UCL. You on the other hand are talking about Berkely and King's in the same breath...lol. Dude, unless you plan to live in London or are dealing with very strict financial means, go for BERKELY! Without a doubt!

Let us know where you ended up!

Good luck :-)

Are you insane? Comparing the best public law school in the world with Kings College?

With all due respect to Kings, its not even close to Berkeley.

i really don't get what is so prestigious about berkeley? and how on what basis does it allegedly have the best 'public law' programme in the world?

It is one of the best. It has been accepted as such. I meant public University. It is the best public University in the world as opposed to a private such as Stanford.

Kings is good but its not even close to Berkeley.

I'd disagree that Berkeley is the best public university 'in the world'. Oxford and Cambridge are public universities.

because Amercia takes over the world.
Everywhere is America's soil.
When Amercians say Osama Bin Laden is a terrorist, he is the world most wanted terrorist.
When Americans say King's is not even close to Berkerley, Berkerley is the best school for public law in the world.

@ glau912: ROFL...hahaha... what you say is sooo true... and I accept it under all other circumstances, but seriously, are we really gonna compare King's and Berkeley's prestige? Isn't that an unnecessary and obvious choice? :-)
