Can anyone offer any guidance on whether the BCL or the LLM would be better for banking and financial law? I was originally set on Oxford because (among other reasons) offered several relevant papers (particularly Global Comparative Financial Law and Corporate Finance Law), and it seems to be generally regarded as better for commercial law. However, my Oxford offer letter included a list of courses which showed that the paper on Global Comparative Financial Law is not being offered in 2008-2009. Will I still receive a good foundation in banking law at Oxford in spite of this paper not being available?
Thank you for any assistance.

As far as Cambridge is concerned your timing is bad. My batch (2007-2008) will probably be the last International Banking and Financial Law class for a while. Professor Hooley and Mr. Philip Wood are taking a break from teaching at Cambridge.
There is of course the corporate finance course taught by Professor Ferran, which I am not taking but have heard great things about.

John Armour at Ox has a very good reputation and the Law Faculty is attempting to build bridges in the finance area with the Said Business School (I believe they've recently launched a joint Msc in Law and Finance for instance.).
