I'm so angry!
Cambridge told me that I was being 'reassessed' despite being given a conditional offer - all because of capacity reasons! In fact, they reserve the right to withdraw application acceptances due to over-allotments and 'mis-calculated acceptances'.
I have a 3/10 chance of succeeding in this reassessment, and it is in the works till 15th April! I am going to call and make sure this does not go unopposed!

Also just received a rejection - I had emailed Sunday requesting an update. Thanks to all on this board for the updates throughout the year - made the waiting period that much easier.
Best of luck to those still waiting!

Hey kelingkia,
sorry to hear that. Just to be sure, could you tell us whether (and if yes, when) you received the "conditional offer" email earlier? It kind of worries me that they seem to draw back offers.

I think all spots opened within this community should stay within it. I love this place and its people. Being obsessive definitely feels better in company...

Hi Everybody
I'm really sorry to see you are still waiting to receive your letters from Cambridge. I've received final letters from all other universities I've been accepted to, but unfortunately I'm also waiting for my Cambridge letter.
I'm from South Africa - any other fellow South Africans out there? : ) My conditional offer e-mail was sent on 6 January 2010 and I can't believe we are still waiting...oi...if anyone receives a letter - please let us know asap! Take care!

Marc T, I hate to be indiscreet but if you don't mind, could you tell us the reason why you rejected Cambridge?

Not much of a secret, really, as everybody can see it on the app tracker thingie. It wasn't an easy decision but I went with Harvard in the end. I must say, however, that Cambridge's policy of not sending out the actual acceptance letters for months and actually rescinding some conditional offers has made this choice a lot easier.

I would really be interested in how Cambridge drew back the initial conditional offer. So far, only one user has reported about such practice. Let there be no doubt: I do not want to question the credibility of this report. However, it would really be interesting whether he or she actually received the informal email before or whether he or she was only told about the status switch on the phone.
While I already received my offer in December and therefore hope not to be among any possible further victims of such practice, I think that any detailed information on this matter would definitely be of great value to the general LL.M.-Guide Community and to future applicants.
Therefore, if anyone has had similar problems with the admissions process, could you please give us details?
Until then, I tend to maintain my faith in a fair and competent selection at the University of Cambridge.

I believe that the previous report is not reporting "truth and nothing but the truth". I am in Cam right now and we have at least 30 more people than should have because more candidates took up offers than was expected. They just created extra classes (more seminar sessions) to accommodate people and keep class sizes manageable. I do not believe it is legally possible for a university to retract on offers, than it will be liable to pay compensation, don't you think? What I think happened was that it was a conditional offers with certain criteria and that applicant did not feel one/several of them

I wonder how long we'll have to wait to get the actual letter and if we should really be turning down other schools in the meantime.

Any news on further offers / rejections...?

Any news on further offers / rejections...?Haha. The Australians are both getting antsy. I'm with TimeWillTell, any news anyone?
I have resigned myself to the fact that I won't hear before the published 15 April deadline, which will be overnight between Thursday and Friday next week over here. Guess I'll probably stay up all night and go to work on Friday either deliriously happy or deliriously gutted...
