Hey guys!
All of us who are dreaming about working off our LLM loan or finding good careers in UK after completion of our degree can wake up this instant. The tier 1 post study work visa is about to be abolished and apparently the final report will be out soon.
There's also plans of limiting the part time work to only campus jobs on weekdays and external jobs on weekends. The number of campus jobs are being reduced from 50:50 to 66:33. Students with courses shorter than 12 months are also not allowed to bring dependents with them.
What does this mean for the thousands of us who are at this very moment in the process of applying or accepting admissions in various universities?
It not only hits the students who want to work in the UK, but also the ones who will return to their home country after completion of LLM. How are we going to pay for our maintainence there if we are not even allowed to fricking work part time! I am just so depressed and shocked.... and for this to come to my knowledge on the day I accepted an admission offer!

(The consultation paper was first posted on the UK Border Agency website, then changes were made to it and now it's been taken off completely. Here's the link for the paper:http://bit.ly/faZsgl )

Well, over 170 views and not even one comment. I guess people out there aren't interested in working in the UK after their LLM. You are all doing the course just coz you have excess cash lying around, right? lol :-P
Seriously guys, anyone who has any information about the issue should share it with the rest of the group. PSW is an important factor in the decision making process for an LLM study in UK.
Doesn't anyone have any view or info that they would like to share with us?

The consultation period for the new visa policy finished this week, so all you can do now is wait and see. Unfortunately this is part of the government's policy to reduce immigration - and they are hell bent on it. There has been lots of criticism though - so you never know, they may water it down.
Perhaps consider casting your net wider, I believe Australia is implementing more flexible visa for international students.

But, are Australian LLM programs comparable to the UK programs? And I doubt the employment prospects for foreign law graduates.
I'm just saying coz I dunno anyone who is applying for an Australian LLM or working/ed there. Can you kindly elaborate?
