Hello,
Does anyone going to Aberdeen to course the LLM in oil and gas starting in September?
I would like to meet my future colleagues and, on other hand, ask them about accommodation.
Have you already applied for accommodation?
Thanks!

Hi,
Nice to meet you felipereis. I'm going to Aberdeen this September for the same LLM program as you are. So, that makes us future colleague. Hehe
I just submitted my IELTS score last week and currently waiting for the CAS. Do you have your CAS already?
With regards to the accommodation, I can't seem to apply for it because I don't have the student ID yet. When do we get our student ID? And what accommodation you apply for? Thanks!

Hi Dear,
I still haven't get the CAS, since I will sit to TOEFL test this month. I hope get it soon. Talking about your question, as far you can apply for accommodation holding a conditional offer, try to ask Aberdeen staff about your student ID. See you.

Hi! I´m interested in applying to this LLM for the term that starts in January. I see that you both spoke of taking an English test, so I think you´re international students like me.
I would like to ask you if you have any tips for application, if there are any mistakes to avoid.
Also, I took a TOEFL test more than 2 years ago. I know I have to retake it, but I´m worried that even if I take it right now the University won´t receive the results by mail in time for the October deadline. Do you think they would let me give them my old score and tell them the date that my new results might arrive?
I appreciate any tips you might have! :D

Hi Alexa, how have you been?
I'm going to Aberdeen in October to take the pre-sessional course (pre-LLM) till December and afterwards start the master there only in January as well.
When it comes to TOEFL, i think it is better to ask the school of law about your situation.
If you need any kind of help, don't hesitate do ask me.

Thank you for your quick reply!
Yes, you´re right, I will have to ask the Law School more specifically. The reason i asked here is because I saw that you and the other person on the thread were taking your English tests in June, quite close to the September entry, so I thought you might have found yourselves in the same situation as me :)
I know the TOEFL can directly send scores by mail to the institution of your choice. Did you have to do that for the University of Aberdeen, or did you just write down your score in the application and upload a scanned copy of your report?
Sorry for these specific questions, it´s just I couldn´t find an answer to this issue on the website!

I've sat for the TOEFL recently and it just took 1 week to get the results.
I consider you have enough time to take the test. Btw, it is possible to apply without to send the test results right now, so you would be entitled to receive a conditional offer. It means that to get a unconditional offer you would have to achieve the english marks stated in your offer.
You can also send your results by yourself without to wait the TOEFL to do that.

You should wait for the result in order not to send an inappropriate test result....
I would recommend the IELTS instead of the TOEFL.

Thanks to both of you for your comments. I'm taking the test this week, and I'll be sure to wait until I have the new official scores before applying.
The admissions requirements are actually much simpler than those of many Master's programmes in the US, so I also find that encouraging.

Simple (or lax) admission requirements certainly have their drawbacks as well.

LLM degrees in the US are the most popular in the world, with only Cambridge, Oxford, and maybe a few others in line.
One way to attract good applicants, from the other universities' point of views, is to have simpler application procedures, have lower application fees, etc ...
It's pure economics: demand and offer
