Hi Angelita. The best law school in Texas is the University of Texas at Austin by far. Generally, top universities requires at least 100 TOEFL ibt scores. There are good universities that require lower scores like Minnesota, Tulane and Illinois (79-90). These 3 universities are better than SMU. You can apply now with your current score and then you can still improve your english till classes start. Good luck!

UIUC has changed their TOEFL requirement.
The following statement are their new policy:
The minimum TOEFL score is 79 internet-based, although the college prefers a minimum of 100 internet-based, and must be taken within 2 years of program term of entry (August).

This means no more just 79.
As far as I know, this semester in LLM program, no body scored only 79 in class. Most of are 90-100.
I will make a guess that the closer to 100, the better for the coming 2009.
Of course, if you can directly score over 100 will probably ensure you a position.
I say probably is because every school will evaluate your other competence.

Hi Angelita.
An overall 91 is not bad but consider undertaking it again since a 14 in the writing part would say little about your English writing skills to the admission board.

Fortunately, that component is the easiest and fastest one to improve. Have a look on the internet to TOEFL writing samples. Make sure that you follow the structure they want (lwhat you call 'encabezamiento, desarrollo, argumentacion y conclusion'). Use connection words to link each of them (list are also available on the internet) and learn synonyms of the boilerplate words (for instance: do, make, have, think ---> carry out, elaborate, possess, consider-believe).

Work one day on these simple things and you'll upgrade that score dramatically.
