I would like your advice about some issues regarding the toefl requirements: Today i was informed that i scored only 96 on the ibt(the speaking section is really awful and meaningless..), that means that i don't meet the minimum requirement of 100. I'm applying to NYU,CLS,NU,Berkeley,Georgetown and Tufts.
First of all, as far as i understood from the web-sites of the above-mentioned schools, you must take the test before the deadline which is posed and there is no conditional offer..what i want to know is whether the law schools require the results to be sent to them before the deadline. For instance the deadline for NYU is December the 1st; that means that they should have the results of toefl before this date or they mean that an applicant should take the test before the deadline? to my understanding it means the second.. Second and most important: You think that i should retake the toefl test? i mean since the deadline has passed-at least for nyu and berkeley- is there any possibility that the admissions office will evaluate toefl scores that have been sent after the deadline?
Regards,thanks in advance!

For sure it means that you have to SEND the test score before the deadline!! What sense would it have to require you to take the test before the deadline and send the result for example 3 months later???

you can now send your application with the current score, and send them later your newer score. I did so last year, and it was fine with the schools I applied to. best of luck with your applications

Hey Stagista
Which schools did u apply to?
I have the same problem and already had to apply for CLS and NYU due to the early deadlines. I was wondering, if you also applied to these two schools and if they accepted the 2nd score, which you obviously sent after the respective deadline...

I didn't apply to either CLS or NYU. It was Harvard (and later Yale) to ask me to retake the toefl exam. That said, all the schools I applied to (8 in total) accepted my latest score. Wish you the best of luck!

Thanks a lot. So, may I ask, how you scored?
Posted Jan 04, 2010 15:45
sure you can. 104.

Thanks...and that was the second test or the first one?

Were you literally asked to retake the TOEFL or did you decide to retake it to be sure?
And, after your experience, do you think it would be a big hindrance if my TOEFL iBT score at the speaking section was of 24 (considering Harvard asks for 25)? (I scored 30 in the remaining sections...)

I have been asked, otherwise I would have not take it another time. don't worry for that 24 in one sector. it doesn't really matter
