I have been longlisted for a Chevening Scholarship for 2019-2020. I am waiting for the shortlist of applicants who will progress to the interview stage. Who else applied for the scholarship?

Hi there! I applied too and have been longlisted as well. Good luck!

Thanks, and good luck to you too!
Do you know of anyone who has already been shortlisted for interview? Alternatively, do you know of applicants who were not longlisted but were still able to request referees to submit recommendation letters for them?

Yes, there's a lot of confusion about the process this year. It's so weird that they're asking everyone who has been longlisted to submit references, yet it doesn't seem like the reference letters have anything to do about the shortlisting process. Considering that the deadline for reference letters is on February 25 and the shortlist is expected to come out anytime after mid-February (which passed three days ago), it is theoretically possible for anyone to be included in the shortlist from now until February 24 regardless if her/his referees have already submitted recommendation letters.

I only know other people that are at the same stage that we are right now. As the process changed, I am guessing that people that are not progressed won’t be asked to submit references and, in turn, for us who have been asked to do so, will only hear after the references deadline. Not really sure.

Maybe, but if that’s the case then the change in the process would be pointless. What I’m thinking is that perhaps the references will be another filter for the shortlist.

Exactly! That's what I thought as well, until I realized that possible gap in the screening timeline. Also, in previous years, only those who were shortlisted were required to upload reference letters, and so the letters had bearing only after the interview.
Anyway, my referees have already submitted their letters for me. I hope yours have too. I really just find the entire process confusing and I hope someone can shed light to it.

Good luck to everyone who has been shortlisted! And congratulations, it's not an easy thing to get to this stage. You guys are already leaders, and Chevening knows that!

Hey guys! Any news and/or application updates after the interview? "Conditionally Selected and Reserve Awards" section is now is visible on the application portal but the application is still under review. I wonder, what does it mean?

Hello everyone.
Has anyone here gotten Chevening scholarship for an LLM study? I have been put on a reserve list this year (2019-20).
