Dear all,
I hold a LL.B from the UK with a master in comparative law from Germany and Australia. I am planning to take the LSAT in December in order to study for a JD in Texas. However, in the process of my exam prep, I find that I do not really finish my exam practise within the given time and that has happend a few times now. In other words I am too slow and now I am thinking I may not pass the LSAT well enough to gain admission to Uni-Texas in Austin. I would like to consider doing another LL.M but I wonder if I can switch to a JD programme once admitted already. Does anybody have an information along this line. I really would like to do a JD programme instead of the LLM but if my LSAT scores are bad, then I want to consider starting off with LLM and hopefully converting to a JD programme. Please advise. Thanks.

You can't compare a JD to an LLM. If you plan to find work in the US, you need a JD from a good school (there is virtually no job market for LLM graduates right now).

Thanks a million expert. Can you tell me though if a switch from an LL.M program to a JD program is doable?

That depends on the school. Here are a few suggestions:

The people at Vanderbilt seem to care a lot about their LLM students.
Also look at the two-year JD from Northwestern. That's a strong very school.
