Tax LL.M. NYU/Georgetown

Hi all,

I’d love to hear your opinion about my chances of being accepted to either NYU or Georgetown’s Tax LLM programs, based on your knowledge and experience.

By the time I would apply I would be a tax lawyer in my home country with 3 years of experience (in 2 of the tier 1 tax law firms in my country). I also would have a bachelors degree in accounting (with good grades)
In addition, I exchanged for a semester at Georgetown Law and got a GPA of 3.93, and it would be likely for me to receive a recommendation letter from a Georgetown tax professor, another professor in my home country and from a partner at my law firm.

I’d appreciate your thoughts on this! This is a very big dream of mine.

Thanks!!

I'm about to graduate in a few days from the Tax program at Georgetown. You have a much stronger profile than I did when I applied (and from what I know, many in my cohort), so I'd say you have a good shot at Georgetown. Can't speak to NYU. I believe they start a smaller cohort each year so the odds may not be as good. Bear in mind that the strength of your application is weighed against other applicants.

Thank you!
I find it very reassuring with everything you said about GU.
I guess with NYU it’s more a matter of luck, but maybe still worth the shot..
Appreciate this!
