PhD in Law (Cambridge)

Ah my college membership has just been updated to unsuccessful at Caius, which obviously does not bode well for my WM Tapp application. Chances running high that I'll end up without funding again.

Sorry to hear that :( you could email admissions and ask if you’ve been nominated for central funding?
How long did it take after your letter of admission to receive college news? I’ve applied for Caius too

I didn't get news per se, I just checked the self-service portal today and it stated "application to Caius unsuccessful seeking College membership elsewhere".

I got an offer of admission on March 1st, I think? Though I had been signaled by the Law faculty that I was getting nominated for a spot a bit earlier than that, IIRC.

Honestly, I'm only eligible for the international scholarships at the trust and those get announced first, so might as well wait for that.
Oh and good luck on your own app for the Tapp!

The law fac does not impose deadlines per se for the PhD. The deadline to accept the offer would normally be the same as for meeting the offer conditions from PAO (acceptance being one of the ‘conditions’), i.e., normally 31 July.

Nothing yet. People on "the student room" seemed convinced that the Cambridge International scholarships from the Trust have already gone out a while back.

I sensed that too. Although I have not heard from any law student receiving a Cambridge International scholarship. I did ask Alison last week about the status of scholarship allocation for offer holders and am still waiting for a reply.

The first round of camridge international scholarships would usually have been allocated several weeks ago, although who knows this year. The equivalent scholarships for British applicants come much later. I notice that the trust website no longer features a list of recipients, but I’m not sure whether they abandoned it due to privacy concerns or that they simply are behind in their public listing. In previous years, the website would usually lag behind the actual trust offers by some 2-4 weeks. If you’re primarily relying on trust funds rather than college funds, it might help to email the PhD admin on whether you were nominated for funding or not. I don’t think they nominate more than at most some 33-50% of the offer holders for the trust. As for college funds, you can start by emailing the college admin or any listed contact person for the relevant college scholarships that you applied to.
