hello, i did the cpe and lpc in london, and am qualifying as a solicitor in september. if i did a US LLM, would that make me eligible to sit the ny bar exam? has anyone else taken this route?

My understanding is that those who qualified as a solicitor or barrister by the CPE route can't take the NY bar exams. You need to be a holder of an LLB to sit the NY bar exams! You can however sit the Californing bar exams!
