Master of Laws (LLM, General) versus Master of Tax (MT, MSc in Tax, MSL in Tax, MLS in Tax, LLM in Tax)

Hi, I am an indirect tax law consultant and my job is to understand and interpret the law and apply it to different business scenarios. With the complexities that are prevalent in Law, I want to be in a position where I can understand and suitably predict the intention of the legislator / policymaker and better align myself to them so that my interpretation and analysis can be more accurate.

I am looking to better understand the thought process that goes into drafting legislation by a policymaker in relation to tax and develop an ability to think deeply about the underlying policy considerations. Which degree would would be better suited to my professional and academic requirements? Ultimately, which degree would deem more useful for a tax law consultant?

I am not seeking to be a lawyer or enter a legal practice.

Specialized degree suits your condition. You may take a look on each courses of those Master of Tax Program. I’d say Master of International Tax might be a great fit for you because international tax entails a policy maker’s perception.
