Hello everyone,
I am a Canadian who went to the US to get a JD. Since I graduated law school in 2001, I have been practicing in the field of criminal litigation. I am considering returning to school in Canada to complete an LLM and shifting my practice to policy work at the federal level. The areas I am interested in pursuing are constitutional policy, environmental policy and international policy. Secondly, I plan sit for the challenge examinations with the National Committee of Accreditation and sit for the bar in Ontario after I complete the LLM. Finally, I would like to do an internship in conjunction with my LLM. The schools I am currently considering are McGill and University of Ottawa.
Does anyone have suggesting for government agency and/or NGO that does such work and take student interns?
Will I have trouble getting an internship as an LLM student as appose to a LLB student?
Will taking the LLM first cut down the number of challenge NCA challenge exams?
Thanks for your insights!
