GULC (30k scholarship) v Uchicago (no scholarship) v NYU (no scholarship) v Duke (20k scholarship)

Hi, I'd like to have some advice because I still can't make up my mind and I have to make a decision on 1 May.

I have been admitted to GULC, NYU and Duke and have already paid the first deposit for all 3.

But I've just been admitted to UChicago (I was on the Waitlist).

I'm a European student and I don't want to stay in the US after my LLM (I know it's almost impossible too). I just want to pass the NY bar at the end of the LLM.

What do you think? I know for example that in Europe everyone knows about Georgetown and NYU but Duke and Uchicago are not known even though they are better ranked.

I think I'd rather be in a big city - although Duke seems to have a very nice campus and a beautiful environment.

There's also the fact that Duke and Uchicago have a small class compared to GULC and NYU - I don't know what's better -

Having a small, close-knit class (which can also cause problems if groups form and the atmosphere becomes high school)

Having a big class with lots of people from all over the world and having the freedom not to have to get on well with everyone, being able to bond individually and not just as a group (which can also be a problem, and if you're a bit shy it's easy to find yourself alone)

And do you think NYU is worth 50-60k more than GULC? Knowing that I don't have a scholarship at NYU and that life is much more expensive (I have a 30k scholarship at GULC and I think that living in NY will cost me about 2000 dollars more per month).

And what is your opinion on the reputation of these universities? in the US? In Europe or elsewhere?

Definitely GULC with a scholarship. 30K + extra means really a lot for LLM degree.

Not true. You'd be surprised about how many NYU students have been struggling to find a job this year and many of them are already planning on getting back to their countries.

Hi, I was in a very similar situation this year and I am currently opting for GULC instead of NYU.

As for GULC vs Duke, in my case, I would prefer living in a city like Washington and I value the experience of the externship that one gets at GULC but maybe to tailor the decision to your situation don't hesitate also to add other factors like the courses available and maybe the begining of the classes, and lastly don't hesitate to make a cost projection for life in both city and make up your mind on how important this factor is. In my case financial factor took a big part in my decision process. Congratulations !
