I am in the same position. I got a third class LLB from the UOL external program. I got accepted for the LPC which allows me to pursue the LLM when I complete the LPC. Most universities would not accept you for the LLM with a third class LLB as the minimum requirement is a lower second class LLB. However, you can do a two senior status degree and improve your degree to a higher class or you can chose my route. My route allows you to do a vocational course then transfer credits to gain admission to the LLM. A vocational course is worthwhile.

m.a: The UOL's external third is still an honours degree. Universities look at the applicant's other achievements as well, plus that make-or-break Statement of Purpose. Focus on your strengths, what you can contribute to the program you apply to, and how the LLM can help you in your future goals. Manage your expectations (cross the top-ranked schools off your list) and give it a shot. I did and am amazed with the outcome.

well a third class degree is bad..but a third class degree from university of london external is far much better than many second class elsewhere..

university of london external is tough unlike other uni where you sibmit essays and cummulate marks before exam.its 100 percent exam base

LSE student get 10 marks for just attempting the question..imagine..

Is is very individual, a person on an interview is not just a third class degree :) but so much more. Plus, other stuff on the CV matters as well - I also have friends who obtained a training contract with a third class degree...

Hi there. May I ask if that was a top ranked law firm your friend secured the TC with? Just to have an idea where to apply best

I understand this is a dead topic, but after having gone through this, could someone tell me what universities I could possibly apply to for my LLM with a 3rd class Hons. degree? I'm obviously not getting into SOAS or Cambridge, but what other options do I have?
