2010-11 Countdown Begins

bookcrazy

Now that we have all been discussing various options and application stages, i guess it's time for the last 60 to 90 days of the Final Countdown to getting the most coveted offers. I thought we could all keep a track of the status of our applications, response if any, and final offers at one place for all programs across the world. Also, this could be a place for some of us to meet before we go to the same law schools later.

I will begin with introducing myself. I am from India and have 2.5 years PQE. I want to pursue further specialisation in arbitration, as I have been working in that field.

I have made a number of applications and am keeping all my options open till I get some offers. Colleges applied to are: Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, NYU@NUS, UCL, KCL, QMUL, MIDS Geneva, and Stockholm.

Status right now with all these are - processing. Except Oxford where I still need to submit the writing sample.

Hi. I'm a 27-year old lawyer from Brazil. I've applied to (here goes, hope you've got lots of time 'cause the list is big) Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, UCL, KCL, QML, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Dundee and Glasgow... I have offers from UCL, KCL, Aberdeen and QML so far (and rejections from LSE, Edinburgh and Nottingham). I'm off to UCL for the time being.

I am from Canada. I have 15 years of legal experience and I want to take one year off and complete my LLM in International Law. I sent many applications. So far, I have been accepted at Oxford, McGeorge (Univ. of the Pacific), Tulane (with 20K scholarship) and Washington College of Law (american university - washington). I have been refused by UNICRI (Italy). I am still waiting for Harvard, Yale, Notre Dame, Boston College of Law, LSU (Louisiana State), NYU@NUS, St. Thomas and San Diego. I will keep you posted.

For those of you considering executive legal training in the U.S., you might want to check out these new summer pre-LLM programs Berkeley Law School is launching. All the courses are open enrollment. It is part of their new International Executive Legal Education (IELE) department - http://www.law.berkeley.edu/iele.htm.

Their courses sound pretty interesting - "Intellectual Property in the Digital Age: Patent Licensing" (July 7-16, 2010) and new Pre-LLM Certificate Summer 2010 Programs.

I believe the pre-llm courses include Introduction to U.S. Legal System; Legal Advocacy Skills Clinic; Fundamentals of Lawyering; and Legal Writing and Research. If you are interested, you can check out all the courses here - http://www.law.berkeley.edu/php-programs/iele/courseListIELE.php.

No, not at all...they decide on a rolling basis...the last decisions can be expected in april, but I think most of it are communicated by mid-march...and yes, you receive a rejection by mail...
