Weak grades and LLM (in Germany etc.)

Lolster

Hello,

I'm writing to people who might've had similar problems. I'm about to graduate (Law) at my Polish university. My grades are and will be, objectively speaking, quite weak, as I didn't have any great plans to continue studying in the past.

I was wondering whether bad/weak grades disqualify me during the admission process from the beginning, or are there universities with not high number of candidates, therefore accepting pretty much everyone? :) I speak Polish, English and German, therefore I was thinking about Universities in Germany, Austria, Ireland, Netherlands and Belgium (could be even LLM programmes taught in English, ie. in Central or Eastern Europe).

Thanks in advance and best wishes.

Which schools are you looking at? Usually, for LLMs in Germany they'll just want to see that you have a degree, so - unlike for some top schools in the UK - you won't *not* be able to apply because of poor grades. The question is, will the poor grades harm your admissions chances? Potentially. You don't mention how bad your grades actually are but often, if you are able to have other strong qualities of your application - published work, strong extracurricular activities, strong TOEFL/IELTS scores, etc., this can help.
