Hi everybody!! any of you, guys, can help me?
I've studied law in Spain and I'm thinking in taking the UNICRI LL.M in International Organisations,International Criminal Law and Crime Prevention, but before applying I would like to know the opinion of those who are just right now doing the LL.M or somebody who knows something about it...
What do you think about the real job perspectives after doing this LL.M?
I mean, i know, where I live ( in a small village; by the way I'm from Spain) I dont have real opportunities to develop a career in the Human Rights field (maybe only as a tecaher, but is not what I want...) and also I am not pretty sure about the kind of job we will be able to apply after doing the LL.M.
I mean, I know we will be able to work in an International Organization; but what kind of work?Only as a researcher? and it could be possible to work in UN or in an International Court?
As you can see I'm a little bit confused and lost, so I will appreciate any kind of advice....
Thank you very much!!!

I actually did an internship at UNICRI and did meet some of the people that were doing the LL.M. I think they enjoyed it a lot. But I would not expect this LL.M. to open all doors to international organizations. In fact, no LL.M. will do that. Securing a job at an international organization requires a lot of efforts, good connections and relevant working experience probably. That said, there have been one or two cases of LL.M.s that could stay to work at UNICRI as a consultant. Also, I think the LL.Ms can compete for an internship. Don't get your hopes up too high and you will probably enjoy. Torino is a great city to live too!

Thank you very much for your aswer Mila.
Actually I'm thinking about taking this LLM or other about international relations. But I' m a bit concerned about the kind of job I'll be able to find after this kind of Masters.
I mean, I really enjoy the subject, but i don't know if it's worth...

When are applications going to be posted? I've tried contacting them to find out but no avail. Any ideas?

If I'm not wrong, at the end of April...
Following the Website, "all relevant information on the LL.M. 2007/2008 edition will be published on this web page from April 2007 onwards."

Hi All,
I was accepted at UNICRI last year but had to turn down the offer for personal reasons.
I am looking forward to apply again this year..
I have a frnd who is studyin there rite now. What she had to say was that the course is really tough and that there were too many reading materials handed out...
About the job prospects, a LLM in human rights or international relation would fetch you a job in a NGO concentrating on human right and the other option are getting in to the goverment, inter-goverment or the international agencies. For international bodies like UN, they require knowledge of one of the UN official languages and preferably 2 years of work experience in a related field.
There are lot of oppurtunities for human rights professionals but u hve to prepared for a salary that is not very competitive and a job in one of the developing nations...
BTW- Does anyone have any info about this years application. Have they published it yet ??
BTW- This year i am also applyin to University of Kent at Brussels. Seems like a good univ. Kent was top 20 in UK this year

Very odd, says information will be posted in April and its the middle of the month with nothing -- they have not responded to my emails inquiring either! Maybe someone should just call and ask!

I guess the best option is to wait till the end of April.
They are usually very efficent with the deadlines...
If anyone gets some information, please post it here....

Hi.... I am wondering if anyone has received any information about the 07/08 program? I have sent a few emails requesting the info now that the April deadline has passed and have not received any response?
Also - I'd be interested to hear from anyone who was successful in getting a scholarship for last year's course i.e. what they are looking for - is it academic merit, financial disadvantage?

Hey, the only responses I've got back from them are as soon as they finalize the course instruction and all, they will post information about applying, they told me early May, but now that we're in mid-May, I assume it'll be very soon!

I had my friend who is currently studying at UNICRI to enquire about the LLM course..the response she got was very vague. She was told that they are not very sure if they will have the english taught course again this year.
FYI- It was first time last year that UNICRI had a LLM in english, earlier the course was conducted only in Italian. And also my friend was not about the course structure in UNICRI. She told me that the course module was highly unstructured and had no proper direction. She also went to strongly advise me against applying again this year !!
Please note- That the opinion expressed was as per her personal experience with UNICRI and not a general opinion.

Just received word from the UNICRI that there will not be a 2007/2008 LL.M. The program is being revamped and relaunched. The next LL.M. cycle will be in 2008/2009.

Hi! I've heard that the UNICRI LLM is been launched again, for year 2008. I could read in the website that it starts in January 2008 with a distance learning unit and then continues in March until July in the UN Campus in Turin. Deadline for applications is 10 December 2007, soon. Good luck!

I have applied for the term starting in November. I have read some of the posts above and I am not sure about the quality of the course. the posts have kind shaken my conviction in the quality of the course. IF any one has studied and has seen what the course is first hand then please reply with what is the latest on the quality of the course

Similarly I'm thinking of doing a LLM at UNICRI in Torino. could anybody please tell what are the pros and cons of the programme? what is the real input from the practicionners, is the programme really filled not only with theory? and what is the quality of the theory being lectured? Thanks very much in advance for your answer.
