There will be a one week break 22-29 October.
Indications seem to be that first semester exams will be over arround 7 January (though this seemed somewhat unclear in my correspondence) and classes will restart on 4 February.

miez1,
Not to worry. The rental agreement is renewable for the second term.

No housing offers yet. Either way, I have quiet a history of sleeping outside on the benches, lawn and etc, so no worries.
Are you sure about October 22-29 break? I would have to book my flight home for that, awesome.

That is what I was told when I sent an email query to Leiden asking them when the breaks were.

Fantastic. I am going to keep it real and stay in room No. 78, which is excellent for two reasons: 1) jumping out of the window; 2) taking a shower in kris1984 separate place.

Likewise. I've just confirmed my flight details and I'll be arriving on the 28th August (changed from 21st). Is anyone else arriving around that time? Only a short hop over from Dublin for me!

Hum... I see I am going to be making a lot of new friends thanks to my private lavatory! ;)
On a serious note, don't forget to do send your first rent payment in by wire transfer. You need to pay before you show up - I think, anyway. Details are in one of the emails from the housing office - basically it's 1.5 months rent plus 75,00euro admin fee.

I was looking at cheap ways for people to call me on a mobile/cell in Leiden and this sim card looks attractive even for general day to day usage in nl - http://www.cellularabroad.com/hollandppsc.php.
And still no news re housing :( Hope some kind soul has a little bit of floor space...

Just a note to inform that I've decided to get my insurance from Lippmann groep (underwritten by ACE europe - whom I've never heard of...). Did the online form thing for IPS Primary - 8 months came up to 295,00euro payable by annnother freakin wire transfer.

I'm thinking of the same company, it'll be a whole lot more for me as a non-european passport holder!
Can I ask how come the cover is for 8 months not 12?
When does the course actually finish?
