Dear all,
I was just admitted in the LLM program in European and Financial Law at the University of Luxembourg. On the one hand I'm very happy (since I've been in Luxembourg a couple of years ago and it seemed to be a great city to live in) but on the other hand I'm a little worried (since the University is quite new and there is not much information about it or about its programs).
Thus , if some of you graduated the aforementioned program, please let me know, because I have a few very urgent questions for you. :) I guarantee that your replies would be of tremendous help and greatly appreciated.
Hoping that I won't use too much of your time
Andrée.

The postgraduate programs offered by the University of Luxembourg do not have a good reputation in the market, Note that financilal institutions and law firms prefer to hire graduate students from French, UK, Belgian and German Universities. I suggest you to attend an LLM either in the UK or France.

Sorry, but you are wrong.
I personally graduated in June 2012 (LL.M in European Banking and Financial Law), and am now a lawyer in a Magic Circle law firm in Luxembourg (I was actually hired 6 months before the end of the LL.M programme). Most of my friends and colleagues from that particular programme have jobs as well - law firms, banks, Luxembourg Stock Exchange. Some of my friends who graduated this year have found interships or even jobs as well. I friend of mine started a one month internship in my law firm and was hired directly.
I can't speak for all the LL.M specialisations of course, but I can also tell you that one of my friends who did the European Litigation specialisation was hired by another Magic Circle firm, and my GF got a job a the Court of Justice of the European Union after graduating...
Obviously the programmes in Luxembourg cannot compete with the big names out there yet; but if you want a job in Luxembourg, then the programmes are fine. Since the programmes are taught by the Judges from the CJEU, partners from the biggest law firms, bankers, lawyers from the EIB/EIF etc., you can easily make contacts and find internships/jobs.
Kind regards
A.

Hi everyone,
I am studying in third year LLM Bachelor in Law in Lille.
I am really interesting in the LLM programs of the University of Luxembourg, particularly in the financial one.
I would like to know how selective was the LLM to know if I have a chance to be accepted. And when exactly the university give its response to the applying students?
Kind regards,
Emma
